a little something about nitrous

anytime you hear a horror story about nitrous its always some moron who thinks his stock 305 chevy's gonna handle 200 HP worth of nitrous, it doesnt, and all of the sudden people who hear about it are like oh my god nitrous sucks, it blows up your engine, its rough on your engine, etc. etc. etc. yes, nitrous is rough on your engine, as is a high duration cam, a blower, and anything else that adds a substantial amount of power. but if you put a supercharger on you motor would you try to squeeze 50 lbs of boost into a stock engine? hell no! if something breaks its because of someone who neglected an aspect of what broke. has anyone ever heard of a nitrous distaster story when its used properly the way the manufacturer tells you how to use it? l certainly havent.theres a reason NOS tells you to lay off over 150 HP on a stock 350 TPI motor. Its because they know exactly what theyre doing. they spent years and years of R&D on the kit, theyve tested it, and they know what works, and how it works. anytime someones looking to squeeze any extra power out of their motor theyre risking reliablity if my 305 explodes because lm pumping 150 horses of nitrous into it, lm not going to blame NOS they told me not to! lm going to blame it on my own damn self!if my engine is backfiring and lm running low octane fuel and it blows up under nitrous lm not going to blame nitrous, its my fault!!!
