whats worst for an engine....
what is worst for an engine, nitrous or a turbocharger. i want to get one or the other for my 91 RS 305. My car has 120,000 miles on it but it runs great and its never been driven hard. will this many miles affect what i can get? thanks for any help.
you will need a rebuild before either of those for one.
for two, no one makes a turbo kit for third gens.....yet there might be one out next year though.
for three.....nitrous is harder on a motor than a turbo

There is really no difference in which one is "harder" on a motor,it all depends on which one is setup better.
Typically, nitrous kits have very few safety devices, usually just an arming switch that has to be on to activare the system. There is nothing to stop you from spraying nitrous into an idling motor or one not at WOT in a basic kit. Sure you can get a microswitch or some other device, but not too many people do it - they say F-that, I know what I'm doing. Yeah, until they melt a piston or throw a rod.
As for superchargers or turbos, usually kits come with a boost/timing retard control and/or water injection. I personally like water injection better, becuase it increases power, but if it runs out of fluid, a detonation problem can occur. The timing retard is good, but takes out timing, which lowers power, but keeps detonation farther away. Neither is foolproof.
One thing I have noticed is that if a car has a good fuel system, typically the car throws a rod. The main reason behind this is the fact that nitrous and superchargers give that high rpm "pull effect", making one greedy to rev a little higher to get more power. Rev the motor only a little too much and you can break something. I wouldn't rev a stock bottom end past 6300rpm myself. I only rev my 350 until 5900 and it is still pulling (especially on the bottle), and have had no problems so far (god knows about next time though). Also, overreving the motor in a higher gear is worsw than a lower gear because the motor is under even more of a load.
FYI: you can turbo a 350 to 750hp and not have to rev it over 6000rpm, boost gives you the torque and the hp at a lower rpm.
