Hey Bob Wooten

I was looking at your webpage. I didnt realize how much room is under your hood!! Why dont you just start building your own set of turbo headers?!?! Do what I just did and buy some stainless from Burns just up the coast from you. Get with a friend who can weld stainless worth a ****, and build some headers!!

I am workin on it. i'm gettin' older & dont move as fast as i used to ('specially with the kids & all).

the way i see it I have three viable choices right now. the first is that i just bite the bullet & do my own completely from scratch. Second is get the Turbo Tech header & build the rest of the system & third is to get a set of shorty headers, cut the flanges off of them, weld on turbo mtg flanges, turn them upside down & stick them in.

truth be told, i am in limbo right now. I am working with George @ Turbo Tech to get one of his headers to stick into it & see how it fits. if it fits then it just became quite a bit simpler. I have a buddy with a 3rd gen, and a 1st gen, that i am going to stick it in, to see how many cars this thing will fit. I will post when i know more about the fittment into the other body styles. I am hoping that it will fit into more than just one body style & if not it will, with a small tweak.

I think that i am going to do this in stages (mostly cause of $$$$$). Stage 1, use the Turbo Tech header & see if i cant do this w/o blowing the car to pieces. stage two goto a twin, or step up to a killer single.

stage 1 is not going to require a ton of $ or time. stage 2 is. I am hoping that i can throw the turbo on, tune it in & slap down some good times/HP. there is a good possibility that by the time i get to stage 2 that i will get some sponsors & be able to step up the program.

I am moving forward though. thanks for the input. I just came back from the track this weekend & finally have the car hooking up. now it is time for a real converter & more horspower.

what you have there is pretty much what i was thinking for the upside down header idea. I think that i mentioned this before, but JBA is right down the street from my house, so I was going to see if a set of thier shorties would work for the upside down trick. they make both SS & mild Steel, so material should not be an issue. They dont even want to talk about a custom setup, they are making TOO much money on the Cat4ward stuff to want to take a single person off of the production line for custom stuff. they are throwing up the "bring me $10,000 & a month" kind of a wall to see if i want to climb over it, NOT.

Bob

you are pretty handy with that solid works. 'zat what you do for a day job?

I use AutoCAD 13 at work. Mostly 2d stuff. I used 3d for this. All in AutoCAD13 and in about 45 minutes.

It sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I mean, if that header will work it should be able to support like 700hp or something close to that. I know a guy with one of turbo tech's LT1 kits and he put down 630rwhp so its quite possible with that header. Im sure it will be a lot easier to fit on your camaro then a 3rd gen. Hell, even the impala one may be a good bet for you too. Whatever works.

Good luck and let us know.

When are you getting the header?
In all honesty, I could buy the header now but Id prefer my own headers since I have aspirations for something even bigger than a T76 down the road but thats not until I can secure a better block than a factory 400. lol

Thanks for the thoughts. I am not exactly sure when i am going to get the header. I have to call George up & see how it is coming.
