142 roots install questions

I have a 1976 camaro I am going to take its 350 engine and tranny and install it in a 1982 camaro and want to install a Weiand 142 Supercharger
I have an old holley 750 carb. that I can have rebuilt (or new one?)
what else will I need to change or and to the stock setup from the 76?
I don't want to open the block it only has 50 K on it
is a new MSD needed?
bigger fule pump?
long tube headers?
anything?
Has anyone else installed this roots blower before? any advise?
thanks for any and all help

there is a tech article on TGO's main page about installing a 142 roots blower, should have all the info you're looking for.

I've done a lot of playing around with my combo since I wrote that article. I should probably do an update someday.

Just to answer your questions directly...

No, an MSD is not absolutely needed on a mild blower setup like this. My 6A got funky so I "temporarily" went back to a standard HEI but with an MSD module and matching coil (I had them laying around so I put them on). Runs better than ever. I may never go back to an external box and the chance of it going bad again.

PLUG GAP: .035". That's what I ran with the MSD, that's what I run now. You really don't want or need any more than that. Also, no "projected nose" plugs. They're detonation monsters. Standard nose plugs with a standard gap for blower use. Start a couple heat ranges colder than stock.

Bigger fuel pump? Always a good idea. As long as you system holds good pressure all the way through a run you're fine. If it drops you need to address fuel supply issues. I use a cheap remote fuel pressure gague that I (temporarily!) duck tape to the windshield and make a few WOT runs. If you're outrunning your fuel system it will be obvious- fuel pressure will nose-dive at the top of every gear. Fuel pressure at idle is meaningless. Fuel pressure revving the engine up in the driveway is meaningless. You MUST see what it does under WOT/max effort conditions.

Headers? Important on a N/A motor, more important on a blower motor. The blower helps shove the air in, but the exhaust still has to exit the same old way as before. Everything you can do to free up the exhaust drops straight to the bottom line.

Install this crane cam. CraneCams The stock 1976 350 cam leaves a lot to be desired for a blower motor. This Crane Cam is a real nice street blower (supercharger) cam. Well worth the time ,$$$'s and effort.
You can buy it as a Cam and lifter set under pn113802

What is the cylinder head casting number on this motor?
(under valve cover)
