I saw a paxton SN upgrade impeller for sale pretty cheap and was wondering if it would be worth the money. I was $100+shipping.. how much more boost would this put out then my stock SN (most I have seen is somewhere around 6). How much do they cost from paxton.. has anyone had success w/ the upgrade impeller. I have taken apart an SN, so I know pulling the impeller isn't hard, but do I need to do other things besides upgrade the impeller to make it work? Thanks.

Yeah you need the new upgraded ball drive to go with it. The mod impellor adds about 40% or something like that to the ball drive load. You could run it until she burns then get it rebuilt by Paradise. I think the new impellor is still $100 when it gets rebuilt with the new ball drive$500 or more. Where did you see one at, out of curiosity?

I have the modified impeller and i push between 8- 9.5lbs of boost. I usually rev my Z28 up between 5200 - 5500.

Hmmm, a modified impeller adding 40% load to the balldrive??
Thats just the opposite of what The guy at Paradise Wheels told me.
He said that by making no other changes (like the pulley) to spin it any faster that the modified impeller would actually be less load on the balldrive. He said the upgraded/modified impeller would be less load on the bdrive because it is lighter and as log as you didn't spin it faster that the balldrive would last longer than with a stock unmodified impeller.

Supercharger's dont make more PSI without adding load to the trans at the same RPM, it is simply moving more air. The modded impellor adds close to 2.5LB's of boost in moost cases. It's the air it's moving not the impellor it's spinning that creates the MOST load on the ball drive. In a vaccume chamber it would have less of a load with a lighter impellor at the same speed but not with 14.7 PSI of sea level. Paxton designed a tighter clearanced ball drive for the Modified impellor so it would take the added strain of the newfound boost. Paxton designed the new balldrive and the impellor and they said it's a 41% greater load on the ball drive. OH yeah Craig is the ONE to talk to at Paradise, if your getting serious about boost ask him about the VR4 conversion for your blower.

I guess i will call them at paradise and ask about it. If it is $100 for the impeller new, then $100 used doesn't sound that great.
What is the VR4? Is it still an SN blower? If there were a more reliable blower than the SN that I could use with my kit I would sell my SN2000 in a heartbeat and go with that.

Personally, I would sell it if you could get a fair price and get the ATI!! I think they are a little over 3000$ I have not had any problems with my SN2000 (with modified impeller) and i have had mine for 2 yrs. I change the oil every 1500 miles and or 3 months.
