Open element question

I'm planning on getting a k&n air filter. I really want a 14x3 open element but heres my question its dumb I know but I want to know. My car is TBI and has one snorkel now if I get an open element I'm afraid that the felt crap on my hood (not sure what ya call it) will interfere with the effectiveness of the open element and I'm wondering if the open element will get enough air looks kinda tight under there when you close the hood. Am I right or just worrying about something thats not even there?

Yes, you will get more air than with that old snorkel of yours. I just got rid of my stock snorkel and replaced it with an open air element and it's tons better.

Duhr last time I checked, 14 x 3 open element air filters have nothing to do with superchargers, turbochargers or nitrous.
