Now..the tentioner is very simple...only about 5 parts including the pully. The main body is 2 pieces, the spring inside, and a clip on the front holding it together. Mark where it is before you pull it off the engine, and where you need to rotate it to. Put the lower half in a vice, and pop the clip off with a long screwdriver ot tire iron. Wear eye protection. Put the spring and top half of the main body back into place. Wind the spring and top body to preload it whereever you want it. the clip will go back on every 90 degrees, and had a certain range of motion to allow for belt strech.

Old thread, anyone try this recently?
There is a locating pin on the tensioner. Do you need to drill a new hole for the this pin?

I've disassembled the tensioner and reassembled with tension in the opposite direction.
I drilled a new hole for the locating pin. I found that the alternator will bolt in, in the smog pump location. I slotted the lower mounting hole from the smog pump mount. And shaved off some material to allow clearance for the fins on the alternator.
