forged or cast ?
forged or cast ?
I am in the process of rebuilding my engine to run with a weiand 6-71 blower. I plan on using forged pistons and a pair of airflow research heads with 76cc combustion chambers.
(static compression around 8.1/1) And of course stainless steel one piece valves and dual springs. I would like to know what you guys think about cranks and rods. Should I use the stock cast stuff, or would it be better to buy 6.0 inch forged rods and a forged 400 crank to make a 383 stroker.
The forged crank and rods will cost about 1500 dollars. Do you think its worth it?
Will cast components hold up to the 600 or so horsepower? Will a 383 make that much more power?
I could also use any ideas you guys have about my transmission (700R4 with a shift kit). Can it handle the power, or should I just buy a racing prepared TH350?
Thanks

Good luck.

i would go with forged pistons for sure, i think its up to you if you want a forged crank or not.. i would go w/one. as for rods, keep the stock ones. have them checked, and if they are ok then keep them.. i've read in more than a few articles and supercharging books that stock rods are fine
