Will stock pump allow an inline pump installation?

Will stock pump allow an inline pump installation?
Can u just take the fuse out of the stock pump and install an inline fuel pump? Or will it not let passage of fuel unless turned on???

Some say "yea" and some say "nay" - I'm still wondering myself and I may just give it a whack this weekend without a definitive answer. If I do I'll let you know,
