anyone have proof?

that a larger than stock 48mm tb actually helps increase airflow on a supercharged 350?
i inderstand maybe intil the boost takes over it could help a little but are they worth the 300 they cost?
thanks
pete

Just think about the engine being a garden hose with the exhaust being outlet, the motor being the hose, and the Throttle body being the inlet

If you have a BIG hose and a BIG outlet and SMALL inlet....you wont be flowing as much air as you could

A motor is just a big air pump. the faster you can get air in/out the more power you will make

thats why exhaust and intake are the power making on blown cars....you can get away with a stock cam and crappy heads....but exhaust and intake have to be up to par

thanks for the reply but i asked for proof that a larger tb actually provides gains on a centrifical supercharged car seems that if you are reading 9 lb boost at 5500rpm with a 48mm and the only restricton being heads valves and intake passages and exaust how much if any pressure is lost at the tb. seems the only way to measure this is a gauge on each side and record the diff or track results with the tb being the only change.

theory is great but any real results?

With a TPI setup i dont think you will see a HUGE gain because the intake is so restrictive as it is

BUT

put a larger base or miniram on and you'd definately see a result

here is what i have a ported plenum, asm ltr's and an edelbrock manifold that were extrude honed.thinking of a bigger tb but think it most likely a waste of money for the gain
thanks for the replys

I put a 52mm TB on my old NA 350 TPI, got .2 w/o any other changes. I'm sure that w/ a SC you will notice a gain worthy of the $300 spent.

13.248 @ 101.74 w/o 52mm TB
13.042 @ 102.24 w/ 52mm TB
