need youre help guys, what am i gonna need to get everything going (sn-89) paxton
i just bought a Paxton centrifigul supercharger (model# sn-89) for my 91 5.7liter trans-am, the thing is, it's supposedly an NOS kit that was produced in 1992 but is still in the box with all hardware, hoses, clamps (...etc) included.
now i know that these units dont reqire an oil feed line from my oil pan, but i was just curious what im going to need to do to get this in appropriate condition to run on my car.
the head unit has never been used, but i dont know if the kit is shipped dry, or wet, or if i should change the head unit oil before i install it...etc
also, for those of you who have installed this kit, how long should i be looking at taking. how hard is it, what other supporting mods should i get before i install this because my car is bone stock accept for 3" cat-back.
i only plan on running low boost for a little while so i can have time to save up for more modifications.
and what kind of increases in power should i be seeing with this kit.
thanks guys, i really appreciate any and all input.
later,
mike

well, lol i dunno how much a song is, but i think i might have paid too much for it. it was on ebay, and i put a max bid of 2K on it the day before it ended. and it pretty much stayed at about $1400 until the last 10 seconds. me and my friends were refreshing it every second or two, soying, well, theres only ten seconds left, we should be fine... when BAM! The kit got snyped and it jumped up to $1900. oh well, i just hope everything goes ok.

I used to have a paxton Sn 2000 and sold it to a friend of mine on this board. Call Craig @ Paradisewheels inc. He purchased the rights to the paxton SN series blowers. If you do a search on Paradise wheels, you will find his number, it' s in california--> OR do a search on the net. One thing you should do is upgrade the kit with an oil cooler, heat Kills the SN series chargers and an oil cooler will be of great value in extending the life of the charger! They also have an upgrade kit for the SN impeller so you can get 8psi boost, or you can spend 1G and get the VR4 kit. But if your going to have 3G's into the supercharger, better sell it and get a procharger like I did! Raiden, the guy I sold my Sn 2000 to, figured out how to rebuild his paxton from a website, contact him for info on rebuilding them. The SN series are an older technology, but work OK as long as you don't over rev them and you keep the head unit cool with an oil cooler.

As far as modifications, Upgrade to headers. Anytime you improve something on the intake side of the motor, do something to improve the exhaust. A good set of headers will help you out a lot. If my memory serves me right, I had to upgrade my fuel pump and injectors for my paxton Sn 2000. My car was dying above 3500rpm's with the paxton. I added a new walbro 255lbh fuel pump and it pulled all the way up to 5500rpms strong. I know Raiden replaced the tiny windshild washer motor for the water injection unit with a Sure Flow water pump. The sureflo water pump costs about $50 bucks at Northern tool. If you have any questions, I would ask raiden, he took a lot of time to learn how to tune his sn blower.
