mothballs in tank makes better h.p.??

 

i've heard this one from some of the ol' hot rodders its a poor mans way to up the octain on your gas.

 

I always love it when this topic comes up. Do a search, youll get a kick out of it.

 

That was a good Greatgranddad trick but it retired when he did.
Back when this worked the octane of gasoline was much lower than now, and the octane of mothballs was much higher. It doesn't help these days with anything but keeping moths out of your gas tank.
