How does the size of a supercharger pulley affect its output?

If you change out your pulleys you can spin your blower faster or slower..pushing more or less air. for instance on a centrifugal blower you can speed it up by getting a larger crank pulley or smaller blower pulley or both. What happens if you don't watch it however is something called blower overspeed where the efficiency of the blower drops off rapidly..

Vortech has a handy calculator on their website, you input pulley sizes and what rpm you will shift at and it tells you how fast your blower will spin... from there you look at the type of blower you want and determine if it is in its efficiency range on the compressor maps.
