new motor not making full boost in first gear
after hurting my last engine trying to take the usa f-body v6 et record in august i got a bone stock 3.1 to drop in the car, until my fully built 3.4 is done.
the problem im having is with the new motor in the car i cannot build full boost in first gear.my wastegate has a 9.63 spring in it,but im only seeing 4-6 psi tops, but in 2nd 3rd and 4th i get my full boost (8psi,figure 1 psi drop threw the ic)but it seems to come on real slow.is it possible i have a turbo going bad,or would the ported heads/intake i ran on my old engine but not on this engine be making all the difference in boostlevel and how fast boost comes on.
in 2nd and higer gears i still see the boost i should but it just takes a while to build, weras my old motor the boost gauge would rip right to full boost dam fast.
the only thing diff with the new motor is the lack of ported heads/intake/tb,other then that everything is the same

i think you're VE has gone down so much with stock heads that you're turbo is now severely, drastically oversized for the motor. as in a t60 would be too much for a stock 3.1 and you're running a t76 on it. Thats my guess, so just get that 3.4 up, quick.

hmm, could still be the lower v/e . . . you were making well over 200 bhp with your modded 2.8-ish, right? 145 stock or whatever is going to make a big difference in spooling the turbo, but i dont know if that is enough of a difference to cause what you're experiencing . . . could be a wastegate problem, but my knowledge pretty much ends at the theoretical/calculational when it comes to F/I.
