Question on nitrous controllers

Whats up guys. I have a quick question that i cant get a straight answer on. I have an HEI dist. That i currently have locked out. I am adding a nitrous kit and want to add a progressive controler and timming retard box. But some people are saying i cant use a retard box with a locked out dist. But my confussion is on my race car i used one for start retard with a locked out dist. So before i buy anything i would like to get a straight answer. If anyone has any experiance with this or any knowledge it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

i've been running mine locked out and have no problems ,i have locked out the vacuum and mechanical advance , if you havent bought your retard box and other stuff you should check out the mallory hyfire Vl it has built in retard control up to 15 deg. and has a window switch for nos , i have a nos progessive controller for 1st stage and use window switch for second stage , it also has 2 step rev limiter and something for boost , so far i am very pleased with it .

The advance mechanism in the distributor modifies the signal to the coil to affect when it fires. Same thing with any modification at the ignition box, like retard. They work independently of each other and don’t have any effect on one another, so the short answer is it will work fine.

Before you spend the cash on the progressive controller, you might want to look over at camaroz28.com. Harris Speedworks has a controller for 125 bones.
