how much nitrous is too much?

well here is what i have got. a 383 with edelbrock performer rpm intake and a 750cfm performer carb with a 11:1 compression alluminum heads and 200cc intake runners and stock 5.7 350 rods and arp rod and head bolts. what i would like to know how much of a shot of nitous i can get away with. i have 6000 invested and dont wanna blow it apart. i just want a little extra boost at the track. i may or may not do this but its just a thought for now. what does everyone think???

You didn't mention what kind of pistons you have (cast/hyper/forged)... The basic rule of thumb is that for "serious" or regular shots of giggle gas, you really need forged.

Hypereutectic pistons will (probably!) be OK for the occasional track day, assuming that you don't go crazy w/the spray, but (personally) I'd be a little bit cautious given your compression ratio.

If they're cast pistons (unlikely at an 11:1 CR), I myself wouldn't even hit the button until I swapped 'em out. My best guess is that you'd probably be OK with a 75, maybe 100 shot, since you have Alum. heads... (But I'm sure others here can give you better/more-specific info)

I am thinking that you have a stock 5.7 rods, you are pushing the limits naturally aspirated, i have the same rods and it scares me to rev to 6000 rpm, i would not think of using dope without a stronger rod.
