Seems kinda silly but maybe I'm not being open minded...

They claim 2 psi, which I guess is an improvement if you're just going for something better than stock.

Anyone tried these things or know someone who has?
Are they a joke? Any improvement?

I'm just wondering, ran across one when I searched 'turbo' on Ebay the other day and had to click on it

Yes its a joke. They're more of an air restriction than an air mover. Same with the Tornado and that other junk.

It will not create boost at any usable RPM. It is only a joke if you don't buy one. The people that wasted money on them don't usually laugh about it.

More and more ebay sellers associate junk parts with turbo. It clogs up the search engine and makes you have to search for specific things.

Yea it would make sense it wouldn't work either, but I found a video a while back proving that it at least has some affect. I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair the first time I saw the video. How you would mount it up inside the engine bay would be nearly impossible.

enjoy.

A remote mount twin leaf blowers powered by a couple of CR250 2-strokes would be the hot setup. Weight in the rear, and not much weight for the setup. No engine loss in HP.

hell, while we are at it, why not hook up a compressed air tank and shoot 10 psi in the TB cheaper than nitrous lol....

The basic problem with electric turbochargers is that it takes a MASSIVE amount of electrical energy to move enough air to make meaningful boost. WAY more than your car's electrical system could make. I know I built one with my brother years ago using the compressor side of a T-73. With a 36V system and a ton of amperage it might make a couple pounds on a small V8 (judging by our testing of impeller speed and observed boost on a test bench). Even then the batteries were flat in no time. It would be, at best, like a nitrous system- for short term use only. And HEAVY with all the batteries.

HAHA, Ive never seen that done on a dyno before! Seen vids like that before.
.
Hey bazooka, next time please use the search function before you post a new thread, this same question is on here a few times already. And better explains why it doesn't work, ie watts vs. horsepower.
.
You have to remember that a turbo spins in excess of 100,000rpm, unless you can achieve that with an electric motor that's also strong enough to rotate against the boost, well...

I thought Mad Max used it effectively on his Ford Falcon. I'm so disappointed.

Max used a roots style blower. Also thought it was weird
how he had his on a switch, sort of like a clutch that he could disengage the blower. I don't think that is possible.

Ask the expert. lol

It wasnt hooked up to the engine, so the story goes. It was bolted to the hood and they used an electric motor to spin the pulley. They say it cant be done, but I dunno... some of those AC clutches and electric controlled engine fan clutches out there (like in big trucks) will hold quite the load. An appropriate sized electromagnet might do it, but not sure how well the engine would run trying to suck through a roots. Ive heard you can but its highly unadviseable.

FWIW, Ive heard values as high as 60 HP to operate a supercharger on some factory cars, so it takes some serious power to build good boost. Makses sense if your compressing hundreds of CFM of air.
