in a perfect setup (so I have read in chp, I am a newb) you want the turboi as close to exhaust ports as possible. You also want to run your piping as to not cook the living hell out of things your car needs, example: rad, battery, oil pan, stuff like that. I would definately love to get my hands on a setup that could work. Hopefully I will have a 350 to rebuild soon and maybe even super.turbo charge it.

Sorry buddy. SSautochrome does not make good parts. The problem is not in the workmanship. Its in the material used. The metal they use for the headers tends to crack. All though I have ssautochrome turbo back exhaust on my 02 WRX and its holding up fine.

Hi Everyone let me go over everything to do with the 3rd gens.
We orginally did about 9 kits for the third gens they all turned out great and we were talked into making a all accessories kit for the 3rd gens, we made 4 of these kits.

We gave the kits away($650 per hotside) to buyers to try out and give us feed back (as we did with the mustangs) Time and time again, we did not recieve any feedback from the buyers. At this point we stopped production on the headers and dropped them as the cost was getting to great and we still had no jiggs made up (we used to wait until we'd get a all clear.)

It isn't that we won't do them. it is that we will only do themif we have a COMPLETE donor car, so we can fit and finish the jiggs here before the car leaves. We haven't found anyone willing to do a donor kit for 2800 complete. All acessories except smog stays.

Now on a side note, we will still build the primarys to the collectors and sell them. (maybe this would help dave as we could give him a good deal if he bought in quanity then add his piping to them at the v-bands)

Sorry for the high jack

That is a full installed base kit minus fuel components. I had all kinds of people swearing they were gonna do it but hadn't come thru.

SS Autochrome stole the BBS design from one of our forum members, and basically put his small shop out of business from making third-gen turbo kits. Do a search, and I'm sure some interesting threads on their quality will come up.

And Grover85

I hadn't heard of anybody using their setups on here. I was impressed by their pricing, but now that i know whats up w/ their products I won't use them. Thanks

5 sets, this would allow us to jig them and possibly break even on the next order. At that time we would talk about price reduction for you after the jigs are paid for.

What are the specs on the system/headers?

Would you sell headers only?

design wise, maybe the manifolds of the old turbo trans ams of the late 70s/early 80s will be a source of insparation?

B&G, you said that you would still build the primaries to the collectors and sell them, do you have any pics of the old ones?

Re: 3rdgen sbc single turbo headers

This is a simple set-up using stock manifolds, not sure what application they are from though.

Re: 3rdgen sbc single turbo headers

that's a stock fullsize truck manifold and I don't think it will work with centerbolt heads because of their higher valve cover gasket rail.

Wow, that is one ugly setup. 83 Crossfire TA is right. I have a bunch of those manifolds from late 70s - early 80s chevy trucks. I tried how they would work for turbo manifolds. They sit way too high when flipped. They would be OK to leave as stock and cut a hole up top for the outlet pipe, but the flow wouldn't be that good. TPI manifolds are better to use if all you have available is stock manifolds.

As for the application of that setup. All I can think of is a sand rail, mug booger, crude "rat-rod", etc.

Re: 3rdgen sbc single turbo headers

They used them even longer than that, my '92 has the same manifolds.

I think that they were used on some cars in the 70's, or at least truck crate engines are common enough that you see them in a lot of older cars.
