Magnacharger High Helix 122c.i. supercharger
http://www.carcraft.com/featuredvehi...evy/index.html
this supercharger made 500hp with vortec heads on a stock shortblock 350,
with the appropriate bottom end pieces, couldnt you run a setup similar to this along with a small /medium nitrous shot(100hp+/-)???
i would think that as long as your motor was up to the task of 500-600++ hp the nitrous might increase power even more than expected because of the cooling effect on the inlet charge temperature, which is often a concern with roots or non intercooled applications. ??
any input, advice, theories or testimonials on this supercharger would be appreciated.
p.s. --this things DIRT cheap, its on magnacharger's site for $1900.00

you take a 350hp smallblock and make it 504hp all the time for $1900. versus adding 150 shot of spray to it for $500 or so that youve got to refill often and dont have the power every time you put your foot in it. i know its not setting any records but id say its pretty impressive. but hey i dont know maybe the performance of the new Z06 isnt that great after all...

That’s fine, and if you’re happy with it, great… 500hp will put you in the high 10’s, which is one FREAKING fast street ride. OTOH, that 300-350hp engine could easily be a >400 hp with only minor parts changes and very little if any difference in cost. Add the blower, with a different pulley and the same boost level you can easily have >600 hp and a 9s street ride.
I guess what I’m saying is if it’s there I’d rather optimize it the settle for middle of the road, not that it wouldn’t make for a respectable, fast, mild combination

Sure, 500HP can be had for less money with a more aggressive N/A combo. But it won't be anything like with a roots blower for torque or low RPM street manners. It's very easy to make silly bottom end torque with a roots blower. Big cams and high stall converters need not apply. You can use 2.73 rear gears and a stock stall converter and it'll still be tough to hook up (I know becuase that's what I have in my roots-blown Malibu). Drives like a stock small block until you lay through on it, then it acts a lot more like a modest big block.
The Magnuson is blower is a different technology than my old-school 142 blower. It would be more efficient by far than mine which is going to drop straight to the bottom line as more horsepower and with less tendency for detonation.
If cheap power is really the goal then you don't want a blower. They ain't cheap. But, quite frankly, neither is a high winding N/A combo. Real cheap horsepower comes from the same place it always has- nitrous! Nitrous always wins when it comes to bang for the buck, which is why I was a nitrous junkie for years. But refills of the bottle cost money and are a pain in the rear.

thank you for the replies, i agree with both of you. and yea, i've experimented with nitrous already and possiblities are amazing, i ran12.90@108 with a bone stock LB9.
yes, you can make 500 hp w/o any means of forced induction, but i believe the street mannaers, including gears, and stall, and rpm range, would be phenominal.
in the car craft article the 122ci blower added 114ft/lbs as low as 2400rpms
i think if you were to clean up/port the vortecs, or use a better flowing head, possibly an even more blower specific cam, with 3.42's and around 2500rpm stall this combo would run low/mid 11's and with impeccable street manners, which is a large part of my intent.
and unlike spraying a 200 shot all summer long, you probably wouldnt have to tear the motor down and check, replace pistions and rings yearly.
i called magnacharger yesterday and theyre sending me some more information on it, and i've got a sales rep from superchargers4less.com getting back to me with a price on it through them.
we'll see...

The people who make golf clubs!?!
Just kidding.
I think the price of that blower just went up another grand.
That one I'm not kidding about.
