305 nitrous cam

I have a stock 305, other than headers, and cold air intake, I wanna spray a 100 shot, I have the motor out now, and I wanna install a cam, does anyone have any suggestions for a nice lopy sounding cam, that is easy to tune, and works well wit nitrous?

Re: 305 nitrous cam

"a nice lopy sounding cam" tends to want to run at high rpm.
It will not like a stock rear gear or a stock stall torque converter especially in a stock 305 because such a cam shifts the torque band higher in the rpm range, reducing low rpm torque and enhancing upper rpm power. (its a trade off)

how about installing a new cam that will enhance the power while on nitrous yet works pretty good in a near stock 305 as well for when you're not on the bottle?
Need to know a little more specifics on your car and motor and what other parts you're going to include.
rear gear ratio :
trans converter stall speed:
intake manifold and carb
head modifications (porting, valve springs, head milling etc etc)
Is this car used for commuting back and forth to work or just a summer cruiser/racer?
Are you looking for a flat tappet cam or roller?

You can run a radical lopy cam in a 305 but it will want higher compression, a high rear gear ratio, very high stall converter etc etc to run best.
i jsut checked some of your other posts. Will you be reusing the TPI system?

Re: 305 nitrous cam

I will be re-using the stock tpi for now, I do plan on putting a LT1 intake on it eventually, so that is why I don't want a crazy cam, so I can drive it, and hold off on tuning for a little while, The rear end now has 2.73 gears, I plan on putting in a 4th gen 3.42 rear end, I have a F-body junkyard hook up. Comes complete with disc brakes for 200 bucks. The rear gears, and a stall are not my major concern. If the car isn't the most streetable for a little while that is ok. I just need to hurry and put this thing back in, all I have for transportation right now is my motorcycle. I'm not to familiar with these motors, I have always been into ls1's. I just totalled my 12 second ls1 z28, so I wanted something that is a little bit cheaper. And older, etc.
