Cheap Nitrous Fuel System

Hey all,
I want to bump up the shot on my car to a 200 or so but I have a few concerns. I don't think the stock fuel pump is up to the task and I don't want to put a bigger pump in because I'll probably move to a fuel cell soon. In the mean time, I was thinking about doing the following. I have a Walbro 190 sitting around. What if I filled up the washer fluid tank with some good gas (not the meth/water mix) and adapted the Walbro to the washer fluid tank. Anyone done anything similar? What's the typical pressure that you'll see in the line using this kind of setup? Also, the line between the solenoid and the plate is a -3 AN, so I'm not sure how much fuel that will pass, anyone have ideas on this? How much gas does the washer fluid tank hold, think this will be enough for a full pass? I'm going to run the calcs, but I wanted to see if anyone has done anything similar.

so much!
Tony

Re: Cheap Nitrous Fuel System

just get a 1 gallon cell that has the safety features like foam on the inside rollover valve and has bungs and/or fittings so it will fit together, and go from there. with a few fittings and the pump you already have, you're talking about $100 for a nice system. on a carbed setup, the fuel psi to the solenoid should be around 4.5 psi. if you DO decide to use the washer fluid tank, it will probably hold a little under a gallon.

Re: Cheap Nitrous Fuel System

I did exactly what you're talking about and it worked just fine. I used a cheapo carb fuel pump and jetted for 5psi. I only had a 70 shot on that stage but I literaly filled it up with race gas 1 time and didn't have to refuel for a month (using it about 3 times a weekend). One thing to make sure to do is use black silicone to seal anything on the resevoir. You should see quite a bit of pressure on this setup, I'de guess 50 plus but you should measure for sure. As for the 3an line, it will hold a 200 shot no problem. Good luck on the build.

1 gallon fuel cells dont fit under the hood without cutting... I have a 3 gallon odd-shaped fuel sell from Summit I use... very simple, less than $200 total in everything...

Re: Cheap Nitrous Fuel System

or u could make ur own tank. i fabed up this tank for use for a meth injection
its an all aluminum tank.mounted inside the tank on a removable hanger/flange is a hi press walborow intank pump. this could be used for a diy meth injection, and or as an aux tank/pump for a wet nitrous system.
were the pump is mounted there will be an -6 an fitting ontop of the tank for the pressure line, and another on the top side of the tank for a return line.
in the one pic u can see the bulkhead electrical conectors ill be using to get the power to the pump.

PS THE ZIP TIES ARE JUST TEMPORARY TILL I GET THE ACTUAL PUMP MOUNT FINISHED

the round flange thats ontop of the pump hanger gets drilled and taped so it can be bolted down to the top of the tank with a gasket so it dosent leak

i still need to fonish it up though, have about 5 mins left of welding on it ^^ tjose are pics form when i first started to make that
