what stall converter

Please give suggestions on what stall converter I should run.....

Setup: 350 (.040 over), 8.6 to 1, Forged internals, 230/236 .576/.570 113lsa cam, 1.6 roller rockers, Dart Iron Eagle Platinum Heads w/200cc ruuners, HSR intake, Holley 950 commander, T70 turbo (14 psi), 3 1/2" downpipe, 55lb injectors, TH350.......

I want the car to launch hard! But still be able to drive it to the local car show and the local street races.... I was thinking a 3000 stall

Re: what stall converter

Depends were your power curve is for your motor. Your motor appears to be built well. I always find myself going back to 3,000 stall converters for the street. anything higher is a bit too much and a 2500 is a bit to low. I would bet youd be happy with a 3000 for daily street use

Re: what stall converter

Like stated above, you want to find out the torque curve of the motor, and then the stall should be where the motor makes peak tq, so that way you're leaving the line right where the motor will pull the hardest. With that sized cam im going to say its in the 3500-3800 range, on desktop dyno my 241/249 dur cam makes it right at 4k RPM's

Re: what stall converter

im running a TCI 3200 stall with an anti ballooning plate. The plate is designed to be used with nitrous applications to handle the excess stress on the converter. I paid 410 bux for it.

How would I find out the torque curve of the motor without an engine dyno... I sure you could also get that info from a chassis dyno but that would require me to install a torque converter... Could you run the desk top dyno on my motor??
