help on remote mount setup
what size tubing should i use? Im thinking that 3in would make it take too long to spool. so i was planning on using 21/2 or 2 1/4 what do you guys think.
I was planning on using a t3/t4 turbo that we have left over at the shop. im pretty sure this turbo is good for 600horses on a 4cyl. we had it on a talon AWD with a ported head and cams and it took till 4500rpms to spool. Is this turbo too small for a 355 remote mount? i plan on running low boost maby 6or 7 psi..
what do you guys think.
here is my motor.
vortec 355
speedpro forged pistons 9.5 cr i think
heads mildy ported cleaned bowls
comp cam .503 .510 224 230 at .050
holley stealth ram with 58mm T/B and 32lb injectors

Re: help on remote mount setup
whats the specs on the turbo..more specific that the frame size.. the CR is a bit high but if its intercooled you should be OK. also depending on how much boost you're planning on running, you might need more injector, around 42lb or so. I would think you should be fine with 2.5" for the RMT but dont go any smaller, i would think 2 3/4 might be better.

Re: help on remote mount setup
im still trying to make logic in my head for the exhaust size.
im thinking that a smaller size will cause the exhaust to flow faster, spooling the turbo sooner. but a bigger exhaust im thinking will make more top end power because it can flow more.
But with N/A exhaust I know that it only flows as much as the smallest part of the exhaust can flow. So the turbo is the smallest part in my setup. So im not to sure here. Will size really effect how fast the turbo is spooled?
Thanks for the reply wheelsup. I will check on the compressor size tomorrow.

here is the link for the turbo i have. i guess it might be too small from reading what they say about it. but it did take a really long time to spool on the talon. so maby it will work.

Sounds like a T04E 57 trim compressor. You could almost use 2 of those on a healthy 355. I'd definitely go bigger! I don't know where they're getting 600 hp. The edge of the compressor map is about 43lbs/ minute (about 430 hp) at 2.6 PR 23.5 PSI!!! WAAAAAAY too small.
