T04b on 305?

I went to the junkyard looking for a transmission for my winter beater and walked out with a brand new T04b-25, funny how that works.

I can't seem to find a map for this thing, any ideas? Cold side A/R = .60, Hot side A/R = 1.32

Is the flange the same as a T4? Do T4 housings fit on it? Is it a similar physical size as a T4?

Thanks!

Re: Compressor map for T04b?

ok, I took it apart and found that the compressor is similar to a v-trim.

I measured it at:
Inducer = 2.125-2.130 depending on how I do it
Exducer = 2.75

The only difference is that the v-trim's inducer is spec'd at 2.180.

Here's the map I think it is

Am I anywhere near right with any of this?

Re: Compressor map for T04b?

not to bump unnecessarily, but I've got another couple questions.

Would this work on an LG4 with a little head work and a cam, or would it run out of steam at like 3500-4000.

AND

Does the .05 difference on the inducer really matter?

The compressor doesn't look like it could move 400+hp worth of air, but then again this is the only turbo I've ever seen up close and I'm still not absolutely sure it's a v trim. I'm about ~70% sure it is though.

Re: Compressor map for T04b?

The 1.32 A/R turbine is giant for that compressor. It will flow more than you need. The compressor wheel is in the range of a 400-500 HP wheel. That map is close enough. I am thinking that it will spool late with the 1.32 A/R turbine. What size is the exhaust wheel?

EDIT: You must have been at a diesel junkyard to walk out of there with that turbo?

Re: Compressor map for T04b?

Haven't had the exhaust side off yet, but the outer visible part(inducer?) is roughly 2.55"

Nope, he actually doesn't usually sell parts, just scraps cars. The conversation started at 2.3 ford motors then to the 2.3t then to turbos in general then he pulls that out and says $50,, it's freshly rebuilt too!

Maybe my extra 350 would be a better match, but I wanted to see 305 chunks!

Re: Compressor map for T04b?

It would work fine on a 305ci. For 50 bucks I would just run it. It is good for 400-500HP. The turbine is kind of big. I think it will spool around 3500 RPM. If you have never run a turbo on a V8 before, then you will more than happy with that turbo.

Re: Compressor map for T04b?

First turbo v8(really first turbo anything).

Spooling at 3500 would be fine with me, it's better than choking up top. The cam I was going to use(xe268) likes being above 3000 as well so it's looking like a 3000ish stall is in order for the th350.

I just have a hard time grasping that this little looking thing can move 500hp worth of air, I thought turbos like that were bigger. Not that it's a bad thing though.

Thanks for the help!
