there are three different kinds of gauges here people
Boost

Boost and Vacuum

and Vacuum

Any more questions?

No more questions here guy.

I was actually thinking the same thing as blackiroc actually. I figured since he said he hooked up a gauge, I assumed this was a temporary thing, ie. a handheld one with 10' of hose leading into the car - rather than an a-pillar gauge, etc.

Why don't you replace the serpentine belt with more chain and sprockets? Oh Renthal would look killer or maybe DID don't they make anodized chain in different colors now 2?! [/sarcasm]

hahahaha that was funny butttttttttttt ...... man imagine two chains breaking that would trash my car in a bad way probably waste the hood and all .... this last breakage cost me 250 to fix .... the car was the talk of the mechanics shop all day though .... they were left if complete awe after seeing this .... they did offer to remove it for free though.

So you're able to fabricate mounts, weld sprockets, etc... but you take the car to a mechanic to fix it

ummmm I did the whole 1990 electronics conversion on this car along with everything else .... don't you ever just get tired of working on them and just take it to someone else and say fix it and enjoy a day off doing other stuff ... maybe it's just me but oh well ....

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

It's pretty funny that he posted pics in another thread he just started, but he wont post them here. I believed him at first, because it did seem possible even with the bike chain. Then I remembered bicycle chain doesn't spin at such high rpm.
I don't understand why people would just decide to make a new thread with lies, what purpose does it serve.

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

If this post if fake or real, I give you credit either way. If it is fake then you have a good imagination. If it is real then I would look into a new used chain and sprocket setup from a parted-out bike that was laid down. A 428 or 520 chain would do it. I would go with the 520 chain so that you could upgrade the tensile strength when you want more boost.

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

I was giving the benefit of doubt before, assuming you probably didn't own a digital camera.
But now that you do, there's no excuse. Most people here realize that even if it wasn't real, it would look goofy, but this isn't the auto detailing and appearance board, people here care about results more so than looks (for the most part). So posting pictures of how the kaiser destroyed part of your underhood would at least regain your shattered credibility.

Which brings me to why I bothered posting at all - the reason vwdave may have posted on your other thread was to bring to people attention that you may not be a trustworthy individual. If you lie about your accomplishments (home made supercharger) then perhaps you also lie about your polishing ie, you stole some previously posted pictures, and are using them to try to sell a non-existant base.
It's hard to buy something from someone who is known to be a liar - perhaps your "polished base" will arrive at my doorstep as a box of steaming excrement. Or maybe a destroyed kaiser supercharger You need to regain your credibility man - snap some pictures to prove your worth here.
Being a liar is far worse then trying something and it not working. You learn from mistakes, and everyone can get a laugh - no big deal. Being a liar stays with you for a LONG time - with no good things to gain from it

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

A low end cheap 520 chain will handle around 30HP. A better 520 chain will handle around 50-100HP. That would be plenty for high boost PSI.

At 5-6 PSI of boost you would be in the 15HP area.

really want to say I wasted my time reading it for no picture but the suspense. WOW I think there is a picture on the way. I hope. Lets see it. We have all seen homemade air intakes from pvc and plastic/rubber tubing, so if it works lets see it. It probably wont take off as a new MOD but high powered motors did not come around because people were afraid to show their "goofy" ideas. I applaud your horsepower expedition.

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

Whoa whoa, don't take that too personally man, I was just enunciating the feelings of most of the posters in this thread.
I don't think you're a liar, I can just understand why I *thought* VWDAVE would have posted in your other thread.
But thanks for that picture of the intake manifold, that made my day

So then - why no pictures of the rotocharger? Notice i'm not asking/demanding you post them - i'm just wondering WHY you haven't?
I'm curious as hell to see what a "Kaiser Rotocharger" looks like.

And yea, I agree with Jycollector, "bike chain" is simple a specific size of chain, it doesn't mean it'll only hold a fraction of a HP, or it's particularly candy-***. V-belts, timing belt, or chains would work fine for this. All 3 of those come in MANY different sizes and strengths.

There's plenty of different styles of chains out there, and if you're spinning it via the power steering pump (which means it's probably not direct drive, there's probably a speed increaser in there) then it's not "too fast" for chain. (think timing chain eh?)

hell I can't even get the tires that high off the ground with my floor jack. Besides the car has 3.08 gears in so no it isn't lightning fast by any means ...
But like I said it can beat my friends corvette now and thats all I cared about.

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

Like I said the car will be gone for awhile for major work! .... I am later today going down to chapparel and buy a motorcycle chain and sprockets .... Or I've also been thinking about some way driving directly off my crank shaft pulley. Probably could use a short shaft with like a U-joint to make up for alignment issues.

I am going to be ditching the dryer hose though and make something else maybe steal some fart can tips off a few imports to save money. I figure those 5 inch pipes would be of better use on my car anyways!

Another Issue I believe I am encountering is losing boost through leaks so I figured I could just JBweld everything together to fix this.

My TBI hat is to hillbilly like so I'm going to make a sheet metal top like a TPI plenum this way I will weld an adapter collar to my throttle body that the sheet metal plenum will bolt to and from the front of my sheet metal plenum I can weld a flange on there and bolt my intake pipes on. This should be full proof and eliminate any pipes bursting again.

Re: Kaiser Roto-charger on my Trans Am

Look at mcmaster carr, or other power transmission companies. There should be a pre-built component ready to use (talking about the u-joint type coupler).
I've seen some misalignment shaft type setups that use a rubber joint, but they are only rated to a few HP max. If you slot holes to mount the blower you shouldn't need any misalingment devices.

You are always redirecting away from taking current pictures of the car. You are a liar. You do not have the setup which you claim to have in your car. All those repairs on the car can be done in 2 days at the most by a competent shop. You are a liar plain and simple.

You should expect these reactions, from the members. Believing is seeing. And until you produce a shred of evidence. Don't be surprised to get slammed. If you did this, then yes, you did do some fabbing and you completed a once thought to be impossible task, into a possible one. And I give you credit to that build, but don't expect all the praise you deserve until there is evidence.

I wouldn't really call any of the things you mentioned "major" work, shouldn't take more than a day or two if they're actually working on it.. not calling you a liar or anything, I'd just really like to see pics of it, you obviously have a camera and know how to post pics..

If I posess the abilities to turn my corvette into a convertibe and a factory looking one, why would it be so hard for me to make a bracket and weld sprockets on something? ..... Seeing is believing yes but just cause you've never seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist now does it!

So lifting a motor up to do oil pan gaskets isn't major work? how about all thats involved in doing that in itself ... you make it sound like they can get it done in a day and it's not like my car is the only one there.
