k-member with martin kit

Hey , just thought I'd tell you guys , I finally got to see if a Martin kit fits, well it does all the way till the turbo manifold... I have a 88 formula and I think it will work... the strut tower braces are not a problem with this unit.. there is about a 1/4" inch from turbo to tower clearance... no problem there... well the driver side original manifold works great for this application, so does the pre-86 manifold... anyway... the turbo's manifold of coarse fits, but I looked down and seen the brake line there and it looks as if that might have to be moved.. still one problem , the k-member... I think I can put half of the crossover pipe in when I put the turbo's manifold in , looks like I could half the pipe and join in the middle of the crossover... 2 of the bolts I can get to from bottom , the other one, (which would be hitting the brake line if not moved), is the one I can't get to from below.. k-member in the way... what do i do? put the pipe in when I do the manifolds or put a allen head on that one bolt ... I thought about beating the pipe in ,in that area... would I need to move the brake line then or just beat the pipe some... It is a crossover pipe.. , oh and one more question, on a turbo setup like this with a crossover pipe, could you use a shorty header on the driver's side manifold or would this cause a flowing issue... It's all going out the turbo anyway? Just thought I could at least help this setup out some... just let me know what ya'll think.. I really like the looks of this old setup, easy on the pocket also... I'm open for any suggestions or comments... good or bad... I know it's old , but you just don't see these setups anymore(probably for good reason) I know racer rick on the turbo forums.com has this setup and got 353 RWHP... not bad, thats about as much as I want in horses... so if anybody can help me, please let me know

Thanks
Marc

KR sized photos.jpg
just thought I'd show you guys the mock up of this Martin kit and I found out how to miss the k-member.. I just moved my flange of the exhaust manifold up about 2 inches... everything fits great now... the tower is close but it has about 1/2 inch clearance.. not much , but I'll definately be getting poly mounts... and by the way, don't look at the engine bay.. Thats a blown 305 and the body is getting bodywork done, just trying to mock up while engine is in bay... and before I put the stand motor in , it will be all smoothed out and painted... anyway... This kit is snug , but I kind of dig the way it looks... anyway

Thanks for looking
this is my first time adding a pic to any website , so the size might be crazy
Thanks again

Marc

Re: k-member with martin kit

It's been awhile since I've posted I know, but here is the Martin Turbo kit in my 88 Knight Rider replica....and yes, after modding the exhaust manifold, it will fit. You have to also get a Mini-starter, but after that, that's it....turned out cool.... I have 12V at cap, and have heard it turning over , so.... timing is done, and yes, now time for the accessories... Later
