Re: question turbo + tbi
For 10psi boost you might be able to keep the stock computer and run a FMU. You need a 2:1 or something like that. A TPI FMU will raise fuel pressure way too much for a TBI. (because a TPI has three times as high fuel pressure to start with)

If you want to go inte the computer then I suggest a MegaSquirt or another aftermerket ECM.

Re: question turbo + tbi
yeah, im not sure what to do. for those who have been following my project, i now have two options

1. put the turbo on my trans am. i have fixed everything on the car that mechanical. its a realible gas guzzling daily driver. it is getting painted this summer regardless of what happens. so i keep it, come up with $700 for insurance, $500 or so for paint, 3 for a cowl hood (needed for the turbo) finish the turbo setup about $600 and a new dash pad ($125). and about $500 for a beater to get me point a to point b. this leave me with a 350-400 hp car with a weak rear end, and trans.

btw i play baseball year round, so money with me is tight, so the car wouldnt be done until august or september, due to money.

2. my dad bought a un running 92 rs camaro for $300. (thrown rod)
i drive my car through school until summer. then i scrap together enough to buy a beater to drive. get the trans am painted, and send it on its way. (1984 w/ 78,000 miles, black with power budge hood, saddle tan interior, NO rust, completely unmolested, all stock, new paint, new tires, anyway, its in my sig. its a nice car, and i could probably get $5000 for it, if i found the right person)
but lets say i get $3500 for it.
heres what im thinking.
camaro $300
76 chevy pickup with 350 w/ 4 bolt mains and a turbo 400 $300- 125 for crushing it. so $175
finish turbo setup (including fuel system $1000, maybe $700 if im smart)
cowl hood $300
stuff to make the car nice (weather stripping, interior etc)$500
paint and bodywork- $700
insurance $700
my 10" wide wheels- free
slick -$300 (maybe cheaper, im buying used, lol)
$500 for mechanical stuff

so maybe $4600 total, worst case, and that providing im a dummy and dont shop cheap

then i need a rear end
so which one would you pick?
