Are 48-lb. fuel injectors to much for my car!?

Hi All! ! !

I Have a 3.1l v6 and Im boosting it with the help of bbs designs. Im going to 15 psi boost. If I have a 10:1 FMU, and the MSD inline High preassure fuel pump, are 48-lb. fuel injectors to big? Reason Im asking is because I can get my hands on six venom 48-lb. fuel injectors for only $150.

Honestly all the above sounds like a problem.
What year 3.1L.... how are you planning on editing the ECM?
The 3.1's were not a great engine to start with. They put them turbocharged in a Grandprix for 1or 2yrs with very little of them made. (I think with good reason)
It's not impossible but not worth the hassle for the poor engine design IMHOP.
I like to be different... don't get me wrong... I just don't think your going to get the results your wanting for the money your going to put into it.

You wont need 48 lbs injectors for your build. I am making almost 500 horsepower and still use 30 lb injectors. Its all a matter of a good tune!

On a V6, using a BSFC of .65 (typical of turbo engines, the 48 lbs/hr injectors will only support about 350 HP, using a fuel rail pressure of 44 PSIG, and 80% duty cycle.

The 30 lbs/hr injectors will only support about 225 HP in the same 6 cylinder, so the idea that he doesn't need 48 lbs/hr injectors based on your experiance with your V8 is absolutly absurd.

To the OP:

What are your plans to tune the combination? You absolutly will not be able to use the ECM as it is now and using the 48 lbs/hr injectors.
Going this far, you will likely find that you don't need the FMU, because you will be able to tune the VE tables correctly to take care of that. Start looking at the DUY PROM forum for information on how to go about doing this.

The 3.1 is not a bad design, sure in the genI (iron head) design it has limited flow potential, but there have been quite a few people get north of 300 HP using the iron heads and forced induction, at least one at 400 HP, that had extensive head porting. Stepping up to genIII alumimium head top end will open up MUCH more potential in power and overall efficiancy.

About the Venom injectors, it's hard to say.
I have read recently that the Venom injectors may not be what they say they are, and are not even close to being matched. The problem here is that there has been quite the difference in actual flow and could cause one or more cylinders to go lean.
So you may want to buy two sets for that price, and then have someone else flow match the best set for you.

I don't have the knowedge to reprogram the computer, I know I have to get into all that, but I was trying to accomplish this basis first then start to learn more about the computer. So to complete my basic project I was going to use the fmu with the msd ignition box to retard the ignition and see what I come up with, from there I will venture out to upgrade the ecu. I was told by others that the stock ecu will not be able to control injectors heavier than 26 Ibs, Im gathering more info though . . . . I need turbo for dummies here.
