need advice for turbo size.

im am going to be building a 383 and am planning on doing a rear mount sts style turbo set up. my question is what size turbo should i go with? my combo is going to be a forged bottom end 383 lt1 with ported factory heads and probably around 8:5.1 comp.

s-400 is a terrible idea on an STS setup with its t-6 housing and 1.23 A/4, not to mention the size of it. You should look at something in the range on a t-76, though you could get away with something like a MP t-70 with the .96 housing (t4 flanged) to help with spool.

Re: need advice for turbo size.

take a look around ls1 tech and look at the 90+ mm rear mount setups currently being used.

s400 is not too big.

you could have a good spool too, wrap the exhuast all the way, etc.
