Ok, I have a 91 firebird with a stock 3.1L V6 and want to add as much power as possible, please tell me what parts to purchase to do that. I am learning more and more about mechanics, but would like some help.

 

well u have a few options

#1 nitrous, fun but not always there
#2 my personal favorite TURBO the v6 respond very well to boost

#3 swap in a different motor and for the love of god if u do this dont get a dam 305,atleast get a 350

 

Well i like the 2nd idea because i really dont want nitrous and i dont want to spend the money to get a different engine. So what do i need to "TURBO" it? What exactly did you put on yours so i can find it and buy it?

 

look in the v6 section of the site its been covered many times before.

but i will tell u this, ur not going to buy a turbo kit, noone makes one.
u will have to pay somone to make it, or make it urself.

the closest thing u can get to a turbo kit is a turbo header from bbs which i belive is 300 bucks.

i made everything myself on mine.

ur best bet would be to contact bbs, or look inthe sticky int he v6 section i have step by step pictures that show u how to build the first setup i did cheap

 

oh ok, but i thought bbs went out of business

 

they are doing turbo headers again, there website is posted in this section somewere just search for bbs and u will find it

 

do like everyone else and put a v8 in there.

i want a 383 stroker, but i figure i will use my v6 for awhile to see how the economy is going to be then in a couple years i will get it but for now i want to just get some extra hp anyway i can for my v6

Ok i have found the turbo header, but is there anything else i can add to make it better...give it more power??

 

you dont need that header anyway just route the y pipe up to the turbo and cap the end of it. if you want alot of power your gonna need a megasquirt and big injectors with a better fuel pump. If your just looking to gain a few more horses just run it around 9psi with larger injectors and higher octane gas to prevent detonation.

 

the fuel pump upgrade is not needed till low 13's high 12's. i know cause ive gone that fast on the stock pump before putting in twin walboro 255's
