single turbo y-pipe mounted T3/T4 carbed 305???
Ok so my friend has a t3/t4 turbo that i can get for cheap and my 305 is slow. And turbos are awesooomee. SO. Can i do a single mounted turbo next to the tranny right at the y-pipe? Ill run a front mount skinny intercooler in the grille area. Can i do a turbo 305 with a 1406 edlebrock carb? Right now i have full exhaust, carb, intake manifold, MSD distributor and basically stock everything else. I love unique stuff and i think this would be cool and cheap.
We have a some aluminum piping and a turbo and about 4 different BOVs a 36mm wastegate. All which are avaliable to me.
So can i run about 10psi through a 1406 carb with stock internals? What carb tuning will need to be done? I figure that if its getting the right air/fuel it will handle the power ok.

Can you do it... well sure. Will it work well... not so much. That turbo is really too small to make much power with. Besides that I know on my car there isn't much room in that area. Another problem will be a turbo inlet pipe. Running a filter down under the care is not advisable. Another major problem is that the auto trans you have could cook if it is too close to a heat source as large as a turbo.
I am not 100% on the carb you have but a good deal of edlebrock units have to be modified to even take boost at all.
The book Maximum Boost be Corky Bell is worth the money. Tells you how to size a turbo, where to put it and all parts you would need for your setup. Got my copy for 20 bucks.

You would be better off just turning your manafolds the around and make a crossover. It wouldn't cost to much more.
If you just want a fun boosted car this could be a good cheap build.
Also I found information on things like how to size turbos and read compressor charts from Modern Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine. The information is out there you just have to look.
In my opinion, you don't have to make it crazy fast if you want to put a turbo on it. I would opt., if I were you, to get like a 60-67mm t4 turbo if you want to see real numbers. I don't think that is where you are right now, but I warn you that boost is addictive. You will want more and more and more once you feel it.
I know that it is pretty simple to mod a Holly carb for boost, but you are going to have to do some reasearch to mod that edlebrock carb for boost.
