Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
Ok so the snow has melted. Saturday i was off work and it was 60* outside so decided to work some on the car. I dropped the rear end and the tank. Today i removed the fuel lines and couldnt do anything else since now its raining
. But i was able to make it to the store and pick up some parts i bought 23' of -8an SS braided line and an inline fuel filter that the guy recommended. here are some pictures

out with the old,

old fuel lines

i hope 23' will be enough for both feed and return.
i think i might have to pick up a 4th gen fuel tank since i read somewhere that the 3rd gen tanks arent big enought for dual walbros im gonna have to research this

Looking good man, take a few pics while your modding your sender for dual pumps. This is a mod I plan on doing myself in the near future (3 months)lol
Making some good progress. Here in PA I still have a foot of snow on my property, covering up all my cars.

Also duak walbros fit ask me why I know :P, They are really tight and took me about 3 tries (rotating the second pump different ways to make it fit)
Hardest part is getting the socks in.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
Jay- Question for you, how did you replace the fuel feed line that comes out of the sending unit? did you use one of these tubing adapters? http://www.holley.com/165008ERL.asp i wonder how much that short tube would restrict flow to the -8an line
I forgot to take pictures but i received my 3" mild steel super builder kit and v-band assemblies to make my downpipe. I got them from Columbia River Mandrel Bending. Great company and great customer service. I recommend it if anyone needs mandrel bends, great prices also.
I also received the other set of my IC pipes of 3 inches.
At work we were having some great accomodation on dynamat so i went ahead and ordered 2 bulk packs for the firewall.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
mmhmm this dual walbro intank mod in a third gen tank isnt lookin too promising

i think what i will do is get rid of the line that used to go to the canister. drill a 3/8 hole and clamp the pumps together and use the stock line for one of the pump and a new line from the pump to the new fitting/hole then T it off outside the tank
Idk how i will do the -8an return yet

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
I was playing around with the pumps and i think i might have found the placement for them.

I also started building some plates to get rid of the old battery mount.Im still working on it.
I need to finish my fuel system so i can drop the car back down and pull the engine/transmission out so i can shave the engine bay and modify the turbo headers

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
ok done with the dual walbro setup. it wasnt too bad after all

drilled a small hole for the second pump's wires

..............IT GOT STUCK....... i couldnt get it to go in or out

but after playing with it for a bit it just went in.

Im done, now its just time to put the tank back on

I routed the lines so that the fuel Y-block would be where the old tank lines connected to the old body fuel lines.

Congrats, fantastic build! I wish I would have tried to make my own dual pump setup...it would have saved me alot of money I think but oh well. Glad to see you got it to work in the thirdgen tank. It does fit as you can see but is not as easy as the 4th gen tanks. Theyhave a much bigger hole.
Cant wait to see the results. I havent looked into this thread until now, i'm surprised I havent because I've seen the thread title before. Glad i stopped in. Good stuff.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
What are you going to do about sealing the red and black wires? As pictured, it is going to leak gas pretty bad just using a rubber grommet. Is that regular EFI fuel line or submersible? Regular EFI won't last long in a tank and will deteriorate........and go lean.

I used a sealer called GOOP which is a fuel sealant i just forgot to take pictures, as far as teh fuel lines go i did use gates submersible fuel lines.

looks very good. im digging the car and the fuel setup. i think im gonna go the 4th gen tank route for mine. im planning on dual boschs though, and perhaps a 3rd bosch inline. not sure yet.
my build is also a blow thru but going with the slightly larger mpt78.
also where did u get the fittings snd line for your power steering lines. they came out very nice,

not a big update but its something. Ive been working mid-shifts at work so it doesnt give me time to do much.
Ive been working on the roll bars and im almost done i just need to tack weld the two front bars and then weld away. I just want to make sure they will clear my armrests.
this is the first pic i took

I also just got in my new extreme velocity carb hat.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
I have always run regular SBC, but the price of a used LSx engine is so low now it is hard not to want to change.
Street car or race car.........an LSx makes more power out of the box and adding boost just makes more power. A straight up comparison will end up with a stock LSx making more than a stock SBC. I also believe in using what you already have if it is good. If the SBC went into a bunch of pieces then I would look at an LSx for a replacement.

I will pull the engine out today and start working on the turbo headers as well as shave the engine bay this week and spray it blue.

thanks, quick question for you. When you built your headers how did you weld runners 3,5,4,6?? did you weld them on the inside? tig welded them or mig? i'm about to start on mine and was just trying to get an idea of how to do those since they are so close together

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
There is a couple of ways to go about doing mid 10's. You can do it with power or launch. 10.5 at 125 is abit harder to get since you need to come off the line much harder than say a 10.5 at 140. If you make power to trap 125, a single pump would work, but if you make power to go 140, I think 2 are needed.
Comfortable mid 10's is about 128-130mph which is near 550whp. Capable on single pump with hot wire kit but 2 is good for insurance.

Thats what I figured. Soon mid tens will feel slow to you, especially when your spanked by a nine second street car. Just remember though, when it comes to blowthru, the way we calculate the fuel pressure requirement is....;
P = (base fuel pressure) + (boost pressure) + (line losses) + (10-15 psi if running a dead head regulator)
.... you need less fuel pressure when running a return style regulator as opposed to a dead head.

Yeah, i made a low boost pass at 10.5 psi and ran 10.55 at 132 and it was the most boring ride... it was smooth and uneventful. Its sad to think that 10's are boring. There is no limit to speed I guess. You always want more.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
Small update:
I pulled out the engine, put the carpet and rear interior pieces on, dynamated the transmission tunnel with 2 layers of dynamat. and finally got started on turbo manifolds.
Lets just say that buying those chinese headers was a waste of time and money it would take alot of modifying to get them to clear my valve cover, #8 spark plug (even with shorties it was wayyyyyy to close to even put a spark plug wire on ) it was also hitting the oil dipstick and the cross over pipe was nowhere close to lining up. Soooo i decided to build my own. The turbo will go with the AC compressor originally went with the serpentine setup. Im building a bracket to keep the turbo up and work my way back with 2.5" to the crosspipe

thats where it will go

I need to make as much progress as i can for the next month. Starting May 24th i will start classes again and i will have little to no time to work on it unfortunately. I took summer classes in 09 just so i could take a semester off thinking i would be able to finish it but then i started doing other things and barely worked on it. My goal now is to have it at least running by August which i think is doable. Being a college student and working full time SUCKSSS... wish me luck

Gonna try to make 6.0L manifolds fit (been proven over 1000hp) and turbo mounting in the same spot probably. Im just awaiting my mount adapters so i can get the block set up and start mocking!
If not then i will build some headers simaller but a bit lower down to make more room for a larger DP

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
havent really done much these past couple of days. My dad just bought a cnc milling machine so we've been workin on getting this bad boy settled in.

in the near future i see me buying a cheap set of aluminum heads and have my dad cnc port them LOL
small update on the manifold. I cut up the ssautochrome one i bought and just reused the header flange which is a nice 3/8" stainless steel with square 1 5/8" holes as well as the t4 flange. i have not yet messed with the small 35mm wg flange i will most likely buy a new one or if i have time machine one. They are coming along pretty good #2 and 8 cylinders are done just have to tack weld them and get started on #4 and 6 as well as modify the crossover pipe to fit the new manifold. I am done with the support bracket and let me tell you, this turbo is not going anywhere. It will aslo give me room for enlargement if i get rid of the tensioner and relocate the alternator and ps pump. The way its setup right now i have enough clearance for a 4" to maybe a 4.5" downpipe as well so well see haha

almost forgot i also started dynamatting a bit with 2 layers of dynamat extreme
