Need a 12V source to power N2O ....

I am anticipating adding NOS universal EFI kit this spring.
I need to locate above.
I was thinking of using a feed off of at rear my fuse box. I did that once with adding an accessory for my boat.
I believe there are may be one open unused fuse per service manual(car in barn till 4.1)?
If not, how about using Circuit 15 at fuse box which is turn signals-fog lamp-back up light as those will be seldom used when N20 come on? 15 AMP fuse there.
1984 Vette.

The solenoids need to be wired (through a relay, of course) directly. Trying to draw power for them from the factory harness is a very bad idea. Wire them to back post on the alternator or to the positive battery terminal.

Why would a 12V unused fuse on fuseblock be a bad idea? Are you suggesting voltage would be intermittant?

There is at least one open constant 12v port open at the fuse box under the dash and I think 2 switched 12v ports. I use the switched 12v port for my nitrous arming switch and never had a problem.

Thank you. That is what I wanted to hear. Would not the feed wire to that fuse box be beefy enough? Mfg NOS suggests feed line to solenoids to 14 GA wire. I presume I need to use a 20 A fuse.

Are you talking about the nitrous arm switch or the power to the 'noids? Always use a relay when powering the 'noids.

You can find any basic nitrous wiring diagram that will tell you how to wire the relay on the 'net.

Re: Need a 12V source to power N2O ....

I have the mfg NOS wiring diagram and the EBL-ECU diagram as well.

I am refering to the lead to 'noids. That needs a 12V source. The lead to arming switch gets a 12V switched which I have already at manifold which was for the prior EGR. My fuse panel has two unused circuits. My question is the wire from battery that serves those unused circuits are they beefy enough to handle the current to the solenoids. NOS recommends min 14 ga wire to solenoids to relay to ground. ECU to relay to arm switch to ground need not be as large for gauge. Thanks.

I just looked at SM and it looks like the FB has power to it fed by 10 and 12 ga.

I used the cigarette lighter wiring to power my nitrous kit on both my 84 Z and my 2000 T/A.
