Hello, everyone I am a new member I just found this forum a couple days ago.
I was looking for a good informational board I could go to and I have to say there is a lot of good advice given here.
I'll fill every one in on who I am and what I am looking for.
first I am from fort worth tx. I have mostly been into the import scene
and I still have one at my house that I am building.
I finally got smart and am going with what I have alway liked american muscle.
My uncle has a 1992 camaro rs with a 305 automatic tranny this car is in good condition he found an iroc z not sure which year and switched a lot of the part to this car due to it have a the rs needing a new engine he put the hood wheels engine and tranny in the rs from the iroc had it repainted and has decided to sell it to me.
I am paying $1100 for it I not only need a car but wanted something with good power and will not break down on me all the time.
My imort is a 1996 acura integra it had a lsvtec swap but I have blown the motor twice to to the extensive mods and am tired of constently rebuilding just to keep up with v8 lol.
I like it and am keeping daily drive for my wife till we get her a t/a which is what she wants.
Now that all that is said ( long winded sorry ) my question is this camaro is basically all stock down to the factory radio.
what would be the most recomended modification I could do to the car I plan on upgrading the engine later to either a 350 from a z car or an ls1 or lt1 not sure yet but that will be in the future.
another reason for every one is I wanted to get good power to the ground and not have to sacrifice my kids not being able to ride with me due to not having a/c and heat I had to take all that off of my integra.
thanks for every one that has put advice on here and hope to get to know a few people.
I should be picking the car up on Tuesday if I can I will post some pics next week.

Re: new member

Its always good to get new members. Especially, import converts. As for the best parts to get, that will all depend on what your goal with the car will be. With enough time and money anything is possible. Are you after a 12sec car, 11sec, 10sec, 9sec, etc? Will it only be a street car, street/strip car, or drag only? Do you want to go the naturally aspirated route or forced induction (i.e. turbo, supercharger, or NOS)? If you have a pretty defined picture of where you want to go with the car, you can build to that end and avoid building it more than once as you firm up your goals. I always knew I wanted to go the force induction route but failed on my first few engine builds to build strong enough bottom ends. If I knew then what I know now, I would have started there first and saved a great deal of money in the process.

Re: new member

Aint that the truth I am looking to build a street car it will become my daily driver since I like the look and feel of this over my integra and like I said I'll have a/c and heat can't beat that.
to be honest this is my first american muscle car I have worked on the gm engine before I used to work as a boat mechanic and am familiar with the 305.
I will be leaving the 305 in for a while but will want to build a streetablt 11 to 12 sec. car and those might be high considering I am not sure what these cars are capable of and still being streetable.
I know my integra at 11 and 12 it is not street capable at least not comfortably.
so if I can reach a comfortable 10 and 11 second street thatwould be great.
not sure if I want n/a or forced yet not sure which is better for a v8.
I know turbo was the only way I could reach good track number on a 4 cyl. but I was running 12.1 comprasion with a 6 psi garret turbo and I kept going through head gaskets and detonation was horrible so if forced will cause those same problems I might want to stay away from it lol.
And I do not like nitrous since I blew one of my motors up while I was in it scared the **** out of me.
I'm mainly woundering if sfc's strenthening would be a good Idea to start along with some better susspension just to get started figured that would give me a little bit of better ride before I got around to dropping a lot more power underneath the hood.
I like to drag but I am more interested in circuit racing so something with good top end and mid range power as well

Re: new member

lol thanks for the welcome.
Oh. I am also thinking a new exhaust system along with the suspension and strengthening but not sure if that would be a waist of money since I will hope to upgrade engne later due to new engine working with new exhaust.
now if I do decide to go with an aftermarket exhaust what size, brand and stylewould be best I would mainly like a little bit beafier of a sound than factory.
I doubt I'll get headers for it but will at least do a cat back system unless there is a header that can be used on this that will be a bolt on application on one of the motor upgrades that I am considering oh I also considered a 454 as well.
so motor options lt1,ls1,350,or 454 also what is better carb or injection.
I'm not real familiar with carb but have been told tat I can get better gains with a carb.
unless I was informed wrong.
