so i been wanting to build a turbo car for a long time now im to the point where im going to start buying parts for the build but im just not sure about engines so as always i come to you guys for some answers.
1. how hard is it to find a 4 bolt main and is it expenssive
2. would it be better to build a 383 or 406 forge for turbo
3. can i run tt insted of single turbo with a forge internals
4. what will be the best compression to shot for
if any one wonder what this is going in it will go in a 86 camaro ttop car.

I personally would always go for the bigger cubes if given a choice, but with turbos the difference won't be much. It's not hard at all to find a 4 bolt main block, but depending on what power levels you're looking for will dictate if a 4 bolt block is enough. You're just as well off getting a 2 bolt and adding splayed caps at high HP levels....or just getting an aftermarket block. Forged internals aren't absolutely needed...but it better be tuned just right..I'd go forged just for peace of mind.
I think for anyone to give you any help, you need to descibe what your intentions are with the car...drag, street performance..etc. along with HP level you're hoping for. Either way, I think those who've done it can tell you that you can't easily just slap a turbo on - it takes some fab skills and tuning - not for the novice or faint of heart. Guys that have them put a lot of $$ and work into them - at least the reliable ones..
I'm sure you already know this, but before you do anything you'd better get the rest of the car ready for the additional power...(i.e. SFC's, cage, good brakes...

car will be a street car that will see track ones in a wile power i was thinking 500 to 600 horsepower.
so as far as the block i seen people put about 700 hp on stock block so i was thinking a 4 bolt main will give me little extra insurance.
i really dont know much about turbos but i think my limit in boost will be about 15 psi.

building a factory block setup, go 383. 4 bolt will work for 600hp. splayed 2 bolt to 4 bolt conversion is nice ifyou can afford to do it and want abit extra insurance on the bottom end.
Else get a Dart block and 400+ cubes. Either SHP or Lil M but the Lil M is more money but stronger/heavier.
Twins or single turbo doesnt matter...its whatever you want to do. I like twins as its abit easier to package over a large single turbo.
383 + S400 turbo is a proven combo for 600whp easily on low boost. I'd go that direction for best bang for buck, else throw on some twin 60mm compressors and run 600whp easily the same way
