LSX/5.3 turbo set up/question
Has anyone used the truck manifolds for your custom turbo setup? If so where did you get your flange gaskets from. I cant find and gaskets anywhere. Or did you make you own.

GM sells the gaskets.
Also haven't seen a truck manifold flipped build because I'm thinking the steering gearbox is in the way

Re: LSX/5.3 turbo set up/question
I searched the web everywhere, couldn't find just the gaskets. And the ls1 manifolds have slightly differant flanges. I can find those all over. My manfolds didnt have any gaskets for the flanges. Are they actually gaskets or compression rings?

compression rings or gaskets, just hit up your local GM dealership and the parts guy should get them for you for not much money. One side of the truck flange for sure is like a giant ring shaped object, the other one is smaller, I didn't stare at the package too long for the second one.

the only thing I dont like about that is all the heat you are going to have right there in front of the engine. Its cold to the touch now but that pipe is going to get very hot especially during boost when you cannot see it glow slightly red during your full throttle run. I would be scared to let a pipe like that get anywhere near the front of my engine, near my radiator, near my... alternator? is that an alternator? hmmm. and... your radiator hose? eh

I would llike to know more about this build. What turbo, motor mounts, are you using an after market k member? I have alot of questions. Do thae truck manifolds fit in there good with the flanges? or did you have to cut them off for clearance? I am about to start a build of a T-72 5.3 in my 87 iroc very soon, so any help would be appreciated!

For now I'm using a pair of RB25DET turbos that i had taking up space. My motor mounts are stock 1970 camaro with the summit LSX plates. The truck manifold fit good flipped. I just had to rerun the fuel lines in a differant direction. I brought the flanges off of ebay.

Re: LSX/5.3 turbo set up/question
You need to check out LS1 tech. Allot of people are making over 700-800 whp with stock 6.0 truck manifolds. They also have links for flanges that work with the exhaust manifolds. I am actually building my turbo 5.3 with stock 6.0 manifolds. You can use 5.3 ones. I just chose the 6.0 ones because no egr ports.

Ok, RX7. I thought this was in a third gen. I guess I will find out how they fit sooner or later. I hope they fit, or I'm going to have to get creative. That's OK though, that's when the fun starts. Chop saws, and plasma cutters are my friends!

I'm doing a 4.8 swap with a mp t76 turbo and truck manifolds into my 89 camaro at the moment. If you get yours in there before me, I'll be anxious to see the clearance issues etc. Did you do anything to your engine? Good luck!

Re: LSX/5.3 turbo set up/question
Ok, I should have plan this better but heres my problem. So i finally got the engine running and one of my turbos is blown. I used these skyline rb25 turbos for mock up but i did just want to see what kind of power i make out of them. The problem is i cant find a replacement thats either (a) in my price range or (b) i dont trust(ebay with 6 month warranty). I have been looking into a single Master power or turbonetics. But that would require redoing the entire exhaust system. So would you guys redo the exhaust and go single or get the cheaper turbo bolt it on a see what you got?

Did you look into rebuilding the damaged Turbo? That might be the cheapest option.
