Re: Back in Black, BBSDesigns is back!

Sorry guys, Ive been dealing with all kind of things lately. Slowly but surely our website with product information, prices, pictures, etc.. will be up and running on August.
Thanks for all the support!!

Heads up: From our late designs we will be normally offering the following; V belt style single turbo header, serpentine belt style single turbo header, Street & Strip TO3 twin turbo headers and V6 single turbo header. The full race TO4 twin turbo headers and other custom projects (AU right handed 3rd gens, full race single turbo) will be offered only as special orders by request.

Ed

Dan, saddly you are absolutely right. I am way over my head with things right now, just getting things sorted out and preparing to open business. I havent announced anything yet because when I do, I will want to have a batch of different headers in stock. I do not plan on taking anyone's money and leave them waiting for me, I dont have the time I use to have then.
I will open business again, the wait now means in-stock parts

Someone did just that. Chineese knocks offs are out there. They were all over ebay a few years back. Quality was sub part. OK enough for someone on a budget built. ( i bought each sbc turbo setup that was on ebay) the crossover wasnt the best. but the kit was a replica of BBSD single turbo setup.

Im sure the wait will be worth it. Ive had a real set of Eds single setup and the knock off.

Re: Back in Black, BBSDesigns is back!

We never really stopped making the turbo headers, but we did close the online shop. From time to time customers would chime in and requested something turbo related from us and we did make turbo headers and the occacional complete kit. Since the company moved on to and concentrated on other stuff we left the turbo related business as secondary business due to the blow we received after the knock off's a few years back, but there are always customers looking for the real McCoy, looking for a part well made and long lasting and there is where we come in.

Hi,
The V belt style header will fit on engines equipped with serpentine belt style powered accesories, but the A/C compressor must be removed, no A/C.

The serpentine belt style header can be used on both the V belt and as the name implies, on serpentine belt equipped engines with the A/C compressor in place, although it does not make sence to use the serpentine style header on a V belt equipped engine due to the tight fit and limited turbo size.

I personally preffer to replace the serpentine belt setup for V belt if A/C is going to be used.

If you have anymore questions let me know.

On the single V belt header, what size is the ports and primary tubes?
Are they same on the header for the other side?

Hello Joe,
The primaries are approximately 1 3/8"-1 7/16"ID and are port matched to the stock square exhaust port found on most SBC heads.
Since we are only offering only the turbo header on our online store, it's up to the builder if he or she want to use the stock manifold or a header on the drivers side to complete the hot side, hence we dont know the driver's side primary size.

All our headers are TIG welded and made of thick 1/8" wall steel pipe tube, guaranteed for life! To this date still not one single header we've made has cracked or broken on our customers rides... Not a single one

Any more questions, just let me know.
Ed

Too bad you don't make a 1 3/4 or 1 7/8" version. Guys with AFR210, 220 heads have much larger ports.

Re: Back in Black, BBSDesigns is back!

We normally preffer to fabricate our headers from the jigs we already have and do occacionally make custom builds and or special requests, but this do require hours of figuring out stuff and tend to be more expensive.

Re: Back in Black, BBSDesigns is back!

I'm thinking about getting the single V-belt set up for both my 91 (soon to be LT1) tpi car AND my 88 single plane 383 LT1 cars. What all comes in this kit?

I have one of the serpentine headers and was wondering if a PT88 or S480-T4 would fit on this header?

Do you have any pics of your headers with turbos larger than a T76?

Thanks!

Hello Robert,
We are currently offering the turbo headers only, passenger side for single setups and both sides for twin turbo. No crossover pipes or other exhaust pipes.

Hi,
No we have not installed a bigger turbo than a T76 frame turbo on our headers, sorry. Serpentine headers are limited to a 60 A/R size on the compressor side, unless you make some kind of modification to the valve cover and others, is a tight fit.

Re: Back in Black, BBSDesigns is back!

Correction, I just looked and I have the v-belt header.

Do you have a turbo larger than a T-76 that you could mock up on your header to see if it fits? I have a GTA also with the stock hood. Just wondering.

Unfortunately no, we have not test fit with a bigger turbo than a T76.
The V-Belt style header includes a standard TO4 turbine inlet flange, T76's fit perfectly.
