Re: Accel Turbosonic
I've seen one on a black 70's f body on the power tour and in South Bend, IN. i talked to him briefly but he didn't have alot to say other than he liked it. looked like a good solid piece. i would have paid a bunch for it before i got my BBS manifold. He's had his for 20years or more and i didn't hear any exhaust leaks.

Looks similar to the turbo setup that some of the late 2nd gen Trans Ams had, but for a sbc insted of a 301 olds. Very cool.

Similar indeed, drawthrough systems.
There also was that martin turbo kit. That one had a set of valves in the intake that made the motor NA with the turbo not making boost and ocne it did the valves made the turbo draw through the carb instead of the engine directly. I'm not 100% sure but I think the accel system is 100% always draw through like the late pontiac turbo stuff.

Re: Accel Turbosonic
It doesn't blow hot air under the carb; What happens is there is a divided plenum, it sucks from the carb into the inlet of the turbo and then the air is crammed into the intake manifold by the turbocharger. It's a conventional draw through setup in tight packaging. These are good for 400+/- a bit, designed for a stock to mild 350 etc. Should be a pretty good time If you can grab one for a deal and/or it fits.
A blow through with a fabricated header for the front would still be a superior solution though in general. Probably better spooling, mpg and overall capable of more power. It's also not a turn key kit either and you need a boost referenced fuel pump too. If you have a draw through kit you can use a standard pressure fuel pump like a Holley Blue/Red/Black and be fine.
