5.3 with single T-57 or twin?

Well, since no one had any input on this question, in my thread on the LSx engine swap section, "another 5.3 swap". I hope I can get help here. So I have a 5.3 with a zo6 cam and I also have a master power t-57 super 70 with a a/r of .70. The HP rating for it said 4-500. Would this turbo make it 450 to the wheels. Or should I just get another and go for twins.

Re: 5.3 with single T-57 or twin?

You'd have a better chance at 450whp if that was a P-trim T4 turbine side but you have the 4bolt .63 T3 housing. That will choke flow alittle when feeding both banks of cylinders to it. Could try to order a T4 housing for it since it should swap on...the wheel is the same.

It may be abit small to push 450whp with. You'd be pushing it hard to get there I think. A single 61-70mm would be much more comfortable in that range. P trim, T4 housing with .96 a/r.

If you got another identical unit for twins it would work well, and be good for 600-700whp possibly. 57mm is a good size for those motors for twins. Gives room to grow. .63 T3 housing is gonna spool very quickly. Good match for the rpm range with Ls6 cam.
In fact if 450-500 was all you'd need, you can step down to the T53 or 50/60 trim T04E hybrids they have. I ran T60's on my 400" sbc for about 350whp per each bank and had plenty of room to grow. It spooled quick. I sold those turbos to a guy with a 4.8L lsx in a chevelle and he went 6.0's in the 1/8 mile...thats mid 9's easily 1/4 mile.

My friend runs twin 62's on his 4.8-6.0 motors. The 4.8 and 5.3 motors using the 62's ran great. 700+ whp so they are alittle large for your goals. 52-58mm would work much better.

Re: 5.3 with single T-57 or twin?

Thanks, freaky and Orr89RocZ for the input. I checked out the flow chart for the turbo and with the CFM of the engine and at 5lbs of boost pressure this turbo would be way into the choke zone. So looks like ill be going with twins i hope i can find another one for a good price. I would love to have more power i just think 400-450whp is a good with my current fuel system.
