Need some suggestions/advice on a turbo build

Well to get started im tearing apart my Z28 that i restored from the ground up. I will be using my 350 4 bolt main .060 over 350 with ported 113 heads and 1.6 exhaust valves, has flat tops forged speed pro pistons. heads have been milled which makes it around 11.4:1 which i know is too high but im going to give it a try. I will be running e85 and a blow through holley 750. definitely intercooled. The cam is a comp .548 intake .558 exhaust not sure on duration need to go look at my cam card. lobe separation is 110. solid flat tappet not exactly a good turbo cam but im on a budget. possible swap though to a solid roller money permitting. not sure on turbo size yet need some help with that. looking at building passenger side log header with a crossover pipe from the driver side header typical setup. My bottom end is a forged gm crank with lt1 rods with arp bolts all internally balanced. intake is a professional products hurricane. How much power do you think these rods can handle? Car will have a t56 has t5 in it now. with the engine as it is it made 346hp to the wheels hoping to at least be around 550 or 600. N/A it ran 12.5 with a cheap pair of drag radials with little traction at 113mph. Any advice on turbos, wastegate, headers, pictures, any parts for sale, or anything is appreciated im always open to new ideas, pictures of project soon to come also thinking of installing a competition engineering 8 point cage if anybody has any reviews on it.

Look at my thread I posted tons of pics as well as others there's lots of great ideas on headers. Comp is way too high and you will brake something or blow ur hg right away if you insists on the project I wouldn't boost more than 6 to 7 psi which is a lot of workfor just that. Ud be better off spraying it. But anyways a master power turbo would be a nice turbo if your on a budget or maybe even a s400

Re: Need some suggestions/advice on a turbo build

I already read your whole thread which inspired me to do a turbo project very nice ride and awesome job building it. Yea the compression is a big issue. Thinking of maybe some dished forged try to bring it down to at least 10:1. But if im going that far almost makes me want to start on an lsx. My dad has an ls3 sitting in his garage I would love to start with but he wont let go of it. I swapped in a new one in the the 2010 it came out of at work. Long story but lucky guy ended up with an ls3. Maybe using studs would save the the hgs. Not for sure yet just sucks being on a budget. Any idea what those rods will withstand? I hear 500 with stock rod bolts

11.4-1 isnt to high on e85, my lil v6 motor is 11.2-1 and ran 18psi no problems.

the only problem with e85 is that its not always 85% ethanol, whenever u fill up u wont know the actual percentage and it can vary from 70% to 90%

Re: Need some suggestions/advice on a turbo build

Awesome I think im going to use studs and I want to run somewhere between 10 and 15 psi with an ebay type t76. I also have a hydraulic roller that came with my 4th gen Z28 I bought. Its a comp custom grind I measured the lift in the 540s somewhere but need to degree it to find duration lobe sep and overlap. I was told it was designed for fuel injection. So it most likely will have a wider lobe separation and less overlap so it may be a possible decent turbo cam for free. But like I said I need to put it in a short block and degree it first to know.

Re: Need some suggestions/advice on a turbo build

start with low boost, a motor with higher compression will make more power per pound of boost vs the same exact motor with lower compression.
id also suggest a means of instant ignition reard liek an msd btm incase u fill up and the e85 isnt actually 85%. on my motor i went with a megasquirt unit that i can change fuel/ign maps with the flip of a switch one map is dialed back about 4* all around incase i get bad fuel
