Weight.... have a small quick diet question
Ok, as you know these cars are way heavier than they look. I'm posting this on power adder because I think there will be more folks on here that have put there car on a diet for more speed that might know something as opposed to the "interior" forum. Without disassembling my car, can anyone tell me what kind of weight savings might be involved with replacing my front seats with race seats? I have a 91 z28 w/electric driver seat and manual pass seat. What about ditching back seats as well but would want to put carpet or something decent back in its place? Car has pretty nice interior overall so hate to do it but "speed" is calling me.

There is a thread in the body section called, The Weight reduction Thread by Need For Speed. In there they give listing of how much certain items weigh that you can remove.
Sorry to say this but do a search.

Re: Weight.... have a small quick diet question
Delete back seats maybe 15-20 lbs, they arent heavy at all. Fronts are massive. I beleive my fixed back corbeau forza seats were 20 lbs but stock leathers were near 40, i cant remember. I gotta look at my old threads but there are some big savings there
Not quite apples apples but my 4th gen trans am lost 226 lbs by taking out all interior carpet, plastics, pass seat and rear seats, trunk carpet and spare. Thats alot of mass.
I put in light race carpet which saves 20-30 lbs easily as factory matting is heavy.
