Sorry for the super late respond! Phone didn't have Internet for a good while -.- and well I'm gonna go to the bank and get a loan to build my dream car maybe 3-4,000? I've been thinking of just swapping my original engine for a 383 turn key engine, but for that I would want a new transmission knowing myself, but now I've been thinking about a super charger? which would be easier in the long run (not cheapest)?

Getting a loan to build a car will get even more expensive than it already is…the only thing you'll get is a high interest personal loan if you manage to get one at all. Not good IMO. Much better to save and do it that way.

Other than that, your car is a blank canvass…so many different things you could do…LSX, Gen1 stroker, turbos, blowers, nitrous etc..

None is worth anything unless you have a car that provides a good solid foundation for the new found power…

Wow, I totally get you. I guess for now I'll just do little stuff, headers, y pipe, new cat back, maybe new heads along the way? I'm just not too sure on what my foundation should around? Any personal suggestions?

5.3 truck motor will give you a nice boost in performance. Price can range from $500-$1,000. Just have to shop around (junkyard, craigslist, the classifieds on here). This will be easier and cheaper for you in the long run. You can almost double your power, better drivability, better mileage, and HUGE power potential. Lots here have done it and there is all kinds of info and tech articles on this swap. And none of them have any regrets about the swap either.

On the cheap?, port and polish the heads, port match the Intake, s10 torque converter if applicable, summit 1102 or 1103, and a full exhaust. These parts should run a few hundred dollars and would really help wake up the car. Me personally I would focus more on suspension mods to make a dd more fun to drive. Driving a fast car is fun but having a dd driver that handles like it is on rails is more fun IMO and I own 1 of each type of car.

Do whatever you want to engine wise. There are a thousand good options. The engine is the least of troubles dealing with these cars.Your suspension should get an overhaul #1. Transmission may need an upgrade. Rear end will eventually need an upgrade.. Then if you gona make it a DD make sure your engine aint to radical and wanting to run hot in heavy traffic. Fast is fun but having a dependable ride is much more enjoyable in the long run. Good luck with your car.

Are they're any recommended brand? Or should just standard replacement brand do the trick in your opinion?

Like the other man said a strandard truck engine 5.3 or 5.7 vortec would be a great selection. you can buy a brand new vortec from summit around $2100 slap in a more performance oriented cam with a good carb and headers and have 325+ hp and a relatively easy swap. The newer 5.3 engines have great power but not so easy or cheap to fool with IMO.
