NOS install (re-visited)!!
NOS install (re-visited)!!
well, first ...thanks to all of you who are helping and putting up w/ this stuff LOL *disclaimer* I bought ths "kit" in many separate pieces, and dont have all the nifty connector harnesses NOS provides for stuff like the WOT switch, etc etc...so bare with me please...Also, I e-mailed NOS a million times, my e-mail comes back as "delivery failure". I call, they hold me for over an HOUR!! I am at my ends guys
1. I don't have a stock PROM, I have an SLP prom. Does the SLP have timing advances in it? I'd really like the SLP to stay but i will do what i have to do if necessary. SLP really has no info on their ****.
2. I plan on keeping my FP at 42 psi @ WOT. All scan tools, etc show my car is running pretty damn rich...plus this is a wet kit, so i think I'm safe for a 150 "shot"...any takers?
3. Do any of you have the NOS jet #'s for GM TPI 75, 100, 150, 175 "shot " levels
4. The WOT switch has 3 electrical connectors on it. One is a + one is a ground...whats the third one for? (correct me if I'm wrong on any of these)
5. I do NOT have any TB bolts in my "kit". DO i need longer bolts for the throttle body and plate assebly, or am I OK? Does NOS's kit provide longer bolts?
6. Is #5 what is referred to as the "extension kit"?...im a little confused there
7. How much does the TB plate cost? I cant find pricing on it anywhere
8. Any of you running a FP safety switch (hobbs)?

Re: NOS install (re-visited)!!
I'll take the time to answer a few of your questions that I can answer...
Just be sure to "step up" the jets with time. Start out with a 50 shot and keep an eye on the scan tool. Watch for lean conditions at each increment up to 150. You'll appreciate the insurance.
4. The WOT switch has 3 electrical connectors on it. One is a + one is a ground...whats the third one for? (correct me if I'm wrong on any of these)
You will only need to use two of the three. Use a voltage meter or a battery and test light to check continuity across any two when switch is tripped. This switch will be the final link to kick over the nitrous system's power-up relay.
5. I do NOT have any TB bolts in my "kit". DO i need longer bolts for the throttle body and plate assebly, or am I OK? Does NOS's kit provide longer bolts?
You'll need some longer bolts... You can get these at the hardware store. There is no sense in ordering them from NOS unless you just feel like it. Most all manufactures will give you the longer bolts when you order the plate.
6. Is #5 what is referred to as the "extension kit"?...im a little confused there
Yes, i'm going to guess that in the extension kit there are bolts and also the necessary hardware to extend your throttle and trans cables.
7. How much does the TB plate cost? I cant find pricing on it anywhere
I dont know about new, but I just sold mine on ebay last night for $60 + $5 shipping. It had seven jets with it too.
8. Any of you running a FP safety switch (hobbs)? I'm not, but it is a good idea. I have an interior fuel pressure guage and an air/fuel ratio guage to aid in safety.

I'm more of an NX guy than an NOS guy but what the hay.
I don't know for sure, but most likely. That's where the largest portion of the "horses" in an over the counter chip usually comes from. It wouldn't be a bad idea if you want to keep the chip, (and it's higher timing advance when not on the juice) to get a timing retard box that only retards timing an adjustable amount when the nitrous is flowing. You probably wouldn't need retard (as long as it isn't detonating already) at shots less than 100 or so, but for 150+ it would be good to have.
As far as "calibration" goes then you should be safe (but maybe too rich for good power). As stated here before, start small and work your way up keeping tabs on things as you go.
As long as the fuel pump & sock is in proper working condition and the fuel filter is good and you have no kinks or flat spots in the fuel line, bad injectors etc, you should be alright with a relatively small shot of 150 HP.
Nope, sorry
The terminals are not "a + one" and "a ground".
One terminal is the "main terminal", and one of the wires must be attached to it.
The other two terminals are "switched terminals". One of the switched terminals is "normally closed" and has contact (with the main terminal) only when the switch button/lever is not depressed. When the button/lever is depressed this terminal looses contact.
The last terminal is a "normally open" switched terminal. This terminal has no contact when the button/lever is not depressed, but when it is depressed this terminal has contact with the main terminal. This is the terminal to attach the second wire to activate the system at wide open throttle.
You will need longer bolts with a plate. You should be able to find them at a hardware store if they don't supply them with the plate.
Should have a small throttle cable bracket relocation plate and it's bolts to relocate the throttle cable bracket on the side of the plenum forward to make up for the thickness of the nitrous plate.
Don't know
I am, It's a good deal on cheap insurance, in case the fuel pump, fuel regulator or fuel supply gets screwy for any reason while on the spray.
