maybe the name of this board should be changed?
I know power adder collectively includes turbo, blowers, and nitrous, but a bunch of people seem to think a power adder is ANYTHING that adds horsepower, like ram air, catback, air filter, etc. We get a lot of questions about that sort of thing it seems.
Is there any reason the name of the board couldn't be:
"Forced Induction and Nitrous" or something?
I personally like "Juiced and Boost"

I specifically states that this forum is for turbo, superchargers and nitrous but some people just fail to read that before clicking in here...
Hmm. :lala:

I'd say go by induction, if your car is tpi, try the tpi board, carb, try the carb board, and tbi, try the tbi board....especialy seeing that a ram air setup would need to be different based on whether you have tpi or not.
Oh and if you're V6, the v6 board would work too.

Yep, it seems there are many that don't know that the term "power adder" means "forced induction" such as nitrous, turbos, and superchargers, and that it adds power over that which the engine combo is able to make "naturally aspirated", not just anything that adds power.
It's always a pain when the boards get cluttered with "off topic" threads.
It would be nice (but just a dream) if some people would not ask 20 different questions about 20 different subjects in the same post (and I mean the same post not the same thread) at the same time, like "how much power from new mufflers, how big a cam, what size throttle body, how much fuel pressure, what brand header bolts, and will a K&N give me 30 HP, how much does a turbo cost and where can I get a kit for my car?" A post like that won't get many good replies.
Posts like "how do I make more power" or "make my car faster" won't get too many good replies either.
One or two more specific questions per post will get more specific replies, not to mention more replies, period.
Guido, perhaps if the forum description didn't say, "thinkng about" in the beginning and just said "super charger, turbo, and nitrous discussion", or something like that then that would stop a few (hopefully) that do read but are simply ignorant as to what "power adder" means. It may help to make a post titled something like "before you post please read this" and in that post explain the definition of "power adder" & purpose of this forum and basic brief suggestions on where to post what. Then make it sticky. so it stays on top like the 1LE brakes thread at the top of the chassis, suspension, brakes forum. It could be locked to prevent hundreds of replies building up over time.

Yep, valid question with a fairly simple answer:
If it is specifically about superchargers, turbos, nitrous, and parts & equipment for those, (like headers for turbos, or cams specifically designed for forced induction) or relating to the use of those or compatibillity of other parts with forced induction. then the "power adder forum" is the place.
Ram air would be like TheWraith said, if its for a TPI then post it on the "TPI forum". If for a carbed set up, post on the "carb forum" If for a v6 then the "v6 forum" would be a good bet. Qs about TBI induction go on the "TBI forum".
Same for any other induction related questions like say, air filters (whether stock or K&N).
Questions about headers, exhaust manifolds, mufflers, y pipes, cat-backs or any other exhaust stuff should be posted on the "exhaust forum" unless it specifically relates to something more fitting of another forum, like headers for turbo use, then "power adder" could be the place.
Questions about swapping engines (like from a v6 to a v8, or a 305 to a 350) and the necissary changes, equipement, and methods for that, would best be in the "motor swap forum", unless perhaps someone was swapping from a 2.8 V6 or 305 to a Buick GN or TTA turbo motor, then if the question was about the turbo, "power adder" could be the place.
If the question has to do with suspension, chassis, or brakes, like shocks, swaybars, subframe connectors, strut tower braces, control arms, torque arms, etc... then the forum for that would be "chassis, suspension and brakes"
If you want to learn to burn your own chips the "DIY PROM forum" is the one for you.
If you want to know if a Hypertech chip will give you 50 HP or what brand of over the counter performance chip is best then the "DFI & ECM" bord is the one you want. Any other questions about ECMs or DFI should be posted there to.
If you want to know what to do to your car to make it beat, say, a Civic, or something, then ask on the "theoreticaly & street racing forum" Then when you get the usuall "put headers, catback, cam, bigger throttle body, K&N, ram air, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, etc..." answer, then go to the specific forum for each to ask your specific questions, like to the exhaust forum to ask what brand headers and catback work best. It's a good idea to match your cam to your induction,, so if its a TPI engine, you could ask "what cam will work best with TPI" on the TPI forum. The throttle body, K&N, ram air, and AFPR Qs would go there too since they are items pertaining to TPI induction.
It's just a matter of matching your question to the forum that it relates closest to. If there is no specific forum for your specific question, (like, "is there a difference between pushrods for a Pre '87 flat tappet cam and ones for a '87 & later roller cam") then post it on the "general engine tech" board.

I like "juiced and boost" too, only then there will probably be people posting asking about whiskey and cocain, or oranges and caffeine or something.
