I've e-mailed brad about a week ago and I didn't get a response.
I'm wondering who put me on probation? and for what? and how long it is going to last?

I made one comment about what one person said.
the thread never got locked, It was already going bad when I came in. it was in the "product" board. I PMed the mod for that board, and brad and I didn't get a response from nether. I understand brad, with the site and the server getting the $hits, these last few days.

brad just changed jobs and states so it's undestandable that he's got a lot going on, no idea about the moderator there. if it were me i'd of responded to your e mail, if it was me i'd told you what you did so you could fix it. sucks no one told you.

 

If you put *s to allow "bleeped" words to show up that could make you end up on probation, so if you did that then that's an idea. Really though you should have been notified of what you did so that you wouldn't do it again... Only a few mods on the site have that power anyway so I'm thinking it was something that happened on the appearance board personally.

 

well the probation thing is gone.

BTW the only "*" I ever use would be for R*ce

That's still against the rules Getting by the filters whether it be for damn or **** is a cause for probation. Be more careful

so just so im clear about this cause i dont want to do it and get on probation, if i post something that the filters pick up and i know the filters pick up i would be put on probation. is it any swear words or the context that the swear word is used. cause i a little bit back Kandied posted a pic of his car and i responded "Damn man thats beautiful" it was like i was condeming him. i can see if it is posted in anger but most fo the times i type a swear word i dont even know it cause its just so normal. anyway i dont know if there is a question in there but i think there is.

 

If you try to censor it out like for instance "W*w" if the word "Wow" was censored would be reason enough to be put on probation because it would be getting around the censors which is a violation of the rules. Censors are there for a reason.

 

What about saying thank G0D? I can understand not doing that before the word dang. But using it as saying thank goodness thay my car wasnt hit or something like that would be ok to use?

 

Say thank goodness not thank ***. It's a filtered word so don't say it, that's all there is to it.

To put all of this filter questioning to rest:

G*D is filtered because we received complaints from members who took offense to someone "using the Lord's name in vain." Rather than try to instill common courtesy in 20 thousand members, we just censored the word altogether.

R*ce is filtered because certain members could not seem to reply to a single post without throwing out this term as an insult to someone's car that was different than theirs. This term was funny 4 years ago when the trend started catching on, but frankly I am tired of every internet jockey with a keyboard thinking that this is the term to describe anything they don't like. We have a strict policy on insulting others on this site, and since we also don't allow off-topic messages, there is no reason that the word "r*ce" should never come up in day-to-day conversation here.

Yes, it is a violation of the rules to bypass the filters like I just did. Don't do it. We put the filters in place for a reason and when you think it's okay for you to do something to get around them, you're essentially telling the administrators that you don't have to play by their rules.
