No help from administrators

Hi folks,
I have been a member of this board since its inception some years ago, and have seen the development of the board through the years.
I the past 6-7 mos, I have been unable to post on the board because for some reason, my original username "Mr. IROC-Z" cannot be used. I have tried emailing the admins numerous times to help with this issue, but to no avail. Finally, I just gave up tonight and created a new user profile. I understand that people are busy, but to be neglected for over 6 mos is just ridiculous.

In any case, I just needed to blow off steam, beacuse I have never seen such blatant abuse of customer service.

Regards,
Mr. Z06 (aka Mr. IROC-Z)

I have the same problem when I changed my e-mail address. Can log in but not post, after six e-mails I just gave up and registered with a new profile.

Yes, I can log in, but cannot post anything. It says that I don't have permission to post? I can't post to any of the forums. It seems that many more people have this issue...

you have to catch the administrators when they are on the board. You will most likely catch Brad, you will rarely catch Dirk. I caught him last week right before he made the new IBTL sticky and i was asking him about his car on PM.

But yes, i do agree that they should have responded at some point in that half-year.

They do get a LOT of emails...it is very possible that it just happened to get caught up in the rest.

Certain things on this board trigger automatic emails to be sent to them, so there's a bunch that flow in.

I do remember you, you have a kick@$$ vert, right?

See if any of this can help you. I'm posting additional information from the main page also for those that might want to fix other things also:

If you're having problems with getting logged out of the board and are forced to log in all the time, or if you can't post a Classified Ad or post a Readers Ride, do this:

1. Log in to the board.
2. Click on the USER CP link.
3. Click on EDIT PROFILE.
4. Make sure "Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)" is set to YES.
5. Make sure "Browse board with cookies?" is set to YES.
6. Then click on SUBMIT MODIFICATIONS.
7. Now would be a good time to DELETE YOUR COOKIES. After you log on again, everything should run properly for you.

If you still can't post a Classified Ad, then keep reading:
You are probably running a software firewall on your computer and you have "Browser Privacy" enabled (or something to that effect that hides your browser info and referrer info). Disable it. Go to the webpage that your software company maintains if you need help figuring it out. You can re-enable it after you're done posting your ad, but you'll need to disable it if you want to post again.

Those of you getting Error 502 messages all the time... it's nothing I can fix. The proxy server you are behind is overloaded and is giving you the messages, not thirdgen.org.

I just logged in the account.

Clicking anything basically just says "you don't have permission to access this." Even user cp, forums, etc. Weird.

Also done that many times with the same results. Just make a new profile to solve the poblem. You lose your Post count and status, but who cares. Unless you are a Post *****.

You're in the "Users awaiting moderation" category, only a supermod or Dirk and Brad can take you out of that. PM Brad and let him know the problem and he'll be able to fix your account, if he doesn't read this thread in the meantime.

AOL dudes try deleting your cookies again, Dirk made a server change to try and help. Launch Internet Explorer OUTSIDE of AOL (don't use AOL's browser) or Netscape and see if that works at all.

Nah...that won't help. This is a very strange problem. In any case, we have all made new user names, so you can just drop the case. It is just alarming to think that there may be many others who cannot log in. I just wanted to bring it to your attention, that nothing was being done prior to this.

Just to let you all know, we are looking into this. Apparently, there is a bug in the message board software that when someone changes their email address in their profile, they are placed back as a "pending" member until they reactivate their account using the activation email that they are sent (much like when you register the first time). The problem is, for some reason the activation will not place the person back as a registered member. This is a known issue with vBulletin now and hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.
