When it comes to the networking, servers, domain, etc., I'm a novice. Can someone please explain to me what actually happens when you post a pic from your hard drive? Is it uploaded somewhere? Is it the same as "hosting"? I think hosting is a term used where pics are "stored" somewhere, isn't it? If so, does this site host the pics? I have the need to know... Thanks.

i think dirk explained it once when he had to turn off attachments a coupla months ago.

if i remember right, the bb software incorporates the attached images into the database that runs the board.

prolly be a good one to ask dirk next time you see him.

 

Hosting a picture is when you have it stored on the internet somewhere other than the BB database; like Yahoo or Geocities or an online hard drive.

 

thats how you can see mutiple pics in one post because some one is using a site for hosting those pics and uses the web address so the pics show up right on the screen.

i usually just upload one pic at a time onto the boards here from my hard drive.
