thirdgen.org international club
First of all i dont think this is the right board to put this on but i couldnt figure out where to put it.
The idea here is to possibly create a club that spans for now canada and the US primarily made up of third gen f-body owners, starting off mainly with people on this board.
Here is a copy and paste of something i wrote in a different post that outlines my basic ideas, im looking for feedback and other peoples ideas, as well as people who would be willing to participate
okay heres my idea feel free to disagree and propose alternative sugestions
if the mods are reading this at all maybe we could start a sticky? I am really interested in makeing this happen. First we would need a couple people to step up who would be willing to oversee the entire thing. Then those people could decide where the different sections of the club would be located. A chapter would only be formed if there were enough people in that area that would be willing to actively participate.
After the chapters had been formed we would need at least 2 people from every chapter to step up and over see their chapter. If more then 2 people stepped up then the people in charge of it all could decide who was more suited most likely just based on reputation on the board and willingness to devote time.
Once this is all done we could decide as a whole (put it to a vote) as to what we would like to do to make our selves known (ie window sticker)
For now membership would be based on just willingness to sign up. It would be asked that the only people who join are people who have serious intent on participating in group functions. After a reasonable sized chapter is formed they can be allowed to decide who is able to join their chapter (most likely again put to a vote amongst that chapters memebers). If anyone was to be removed from a chapter for any reason it would have to be put through the head people in charge of the organization.
As far as people willing to oversee it all and help get it started, i would be more then willing to be one of those people. Anyone else who is willing to step up as someone who would put in some time to help get this off the ground it would be appreciated if they spoke up. We will also need someone who would be willing to put up a web page as i dont have the skills. It doesnt have to be anything flashy for now it just has to be a place where we could post a chapters, members, and rules list.
This is all just ideas off the top of my head as a starting point id love to make this happen. Please convey your input. As for the general rules i just put up dont start nit picking them its just some ideas that sort of stuff can be sorted out once we get it off the ground.

Not to be poopy, but here are some things to consider.
There's probably not enough people in most areas to start a thirdgen club, and if there are, they're probably already hanging out, if not already in there own club. Ya know? Why would they need to be in another club? But none the less, it's a cool idea.
Second, there's a HUGE difference between 15 locals hanging out every friday and talkin' cars, and 15 club members who all regularly attend meetings. I know it doesn't seem like it, but it takes a LOT to have a club worth having. Some NC people I'm friends with started a thirdgen club, that just didn't work. We finally crashed and burned in a LOOONG tale of namecalling and online fighting that caused a lot of hardship. All of it over "club" rules and technicalities that were never an issue when it was only friends, not a "club". We have since formed the GMMOC, or GM muscle of the Carolinas. It's open to all GM Musclecars, and has a broader member base and some definate wisdom of what NOT to do. It has taken quite a while to take off, and we're just now starting to really feel like a club.
Events need to be organized, and planned. Guidlines need to be formed and upheld. And more than that, the members need to have something to get out of it. Think about it, we pretty much already are a club, so to speak. Most of us all know each other locally, don't we? And we all communicate through this board, right? What would this new formal "club" have to offer. I'd say a majority of us that want to be in a local club already are.
I don't mean to sound negative, just practical. I think it's awesome that people like you want to take the bull by the horns and "do" something. Here's and Idea for you! I've actually started a North/South Carolina thirdgen Database. Check the Southeast regional forum and look for a thread...bah, heck, here's the link.
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=211536
I've since gone and compiled a list of everyone's Email. Basically with one click of the mouse, I can send an EMail to ALL the thirdgenners in NC/SC. I'm sure the list will grow, but it's the start. I also have been tinkering with a website that I hope to start for the group. Now this won't be a club, but it'll be a place to keep track of what's going down in the South! I know probably over 100 of you from this site, and you could walk up to me and slap me in the face, and I wouldn't know who it was. Several people from NC were at the Charlotte Auto fair last fall that ALL hang out here on TGO, but none of us knew it. What a waste. That's what I'm hoping to avoid with this new idea/database. So far, it's been received with open arms. We'll see how it works when spring hits!!!! I can't wait!!!!!
Maybe you could do the same for your area?
Does this make sense, or is one HUGE run-on sentence?
