Just a warning to everyone I just got an email which said it was from webmaster@thirdgen.org with the title line as 'Re: Your text'. It has a .pif file attached.

I've obviously deleted the message but just wanted to let everyone know incl. the admins.

 

It is unlikely that TGO, and especially the admins, have a virus. Those types of emails aren't uncommon at all as the "From" field is often spoofed by the virus to make it appear to come from a sender that it really did not.

If you look through the email header, you can find out where that email came from.

Unfortunately there is nothing the Admins can do about this. This isn't the first time someone has seen an email message like that, nor is it specific to TGO.

But its good to give people a heads-up, to remind people to keep their virus definition files updated, and to watch what they open/download in an email message.
