Just curious as to if most people use email notification; seems like I can't reply to any post! That's gotta clog up an e-mail box pretty fast... and I get enough spam already. (laughs)

i'm fairly certain that it is email notification, but of course i could be wrong being on the user end. Beyond that, the Admins will have to figure out why the mail server is holding everything up.

You can reply to your own self because the software knows not to send you a reply informing you that you replied, regardless if you have email notification enabled

Apparently no one in this thread (so far) has email notification on.

i may not have understood you, but your ability to post is NOT just based on your own email notification setting. Of course if you have email notification on, you will currently make the thread unreplyable for everyone else.

Rather, it is based on if anyone *else* in that thread that you wish to reply to has the email notification on. If they do, you will not be able to post.

Simply you turning off email notification wile trying to post in a thread will not allow your post to go through if anyone in that thread before you post does have email notification on.

Hope this helps. i edited it to hopefully clarify it better.

Mine is on, lets see...

If no one else can reply to this, that means I messed it all up

Edit- I forgot to check the box cause I'm a dumbass. Now its on though.

Edit- Its back off, since some people seem to think I'm doing it to be a smartass

You sure your "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" or "Email Notification:" is on?

If so, this is the first time i have seen it work.

I usually disable it, but it seems to not be making a difference. My threads are going easy enough.

I use it and my e-mail box is never flooded with replies...it will only alert u if someone replies to ur post but if more people reply to that post without u checkin the post first it will not send another e-mail until u have checked the post then while u are on the site and some replies then it will send u and e-mail again. Sou will only get one alert per thread. But just check ur inbox daily and u should be fine....just dont be a post ***** and u wont be flooded I use e-mail notif. and I love it!!

The email notification seems to be disabled for the moment anyway.

Whats really weird is that even though I diabled all email notifications and unsubscribed to everything it still shows me as subscribed when I start a thread.

i think the feature has been re enabled, but if i am wrong, it should be safe to re enable as Dirk found the problem and corrected it on the server. The server is now sending mail.

I personally use the email notification service and find it great for keeping you up to date threads you might have otherwise missed. It's also good for when you don't wish to reply to a topic, but wish to see the replies to it, so subscribe to it by clicking on the appropriate link at the bottom of the page.
